Attention retro riders, or those looking for an affordable ride... I'm selling my beloved Cadex. Vintage Carbon baby! Compliant, whippy ride. The carbon is rock solid, the steel forks are whippier than the carbon tubes. Some beautiful detail on the Aluminium lugs. Don't want to part with it, but... here it is. It's a great trainer or commuter, do everything bike. Item: Giant Cadex CFR 1 Frame set. The year is 1992. Price: $110 Postage Available: Yes, at buyer's expense. Details: Size: 54cm. (top tube, centre to centre) Includes Giant steel fork, Shimano 600 headset, quill adaptor to modern A line stem, downtube in-line cable adaptors. There is a superficial abrasion on the chainstay from a dropped chain (see pics). Not my doing, before I owned it. Doesn't effect ride/integrity. 1" steerer tube, but the rear drop out is 130mm, so you can run 10 speed on it. More pics here, scroll right: http://sdrv.ms/TIVx3M Sharp eyed forum types will have spotted this in a garage sale earlier. Relisting individually - need to finance a Steve Hogg bike fit!

Man that's tempting. Where are you located? Also you state "giant steel fork", but the fork appears to have an "alloy" sticker on it? Is it steel alloy?

Hey Janus,
I'm in Gladesville, just off Victoria Rd.
Yeah, the fork is a bit of a strange one. The sholders of the fork look the same as the aluminium lugs, but the legs are steel I'm pretty sure.
I thought all steel was technically an 'alloy' ... the sticker's unhelpful because it doesn't actually say what grade it is! If anyone knows, I'd love to be enlightened.

You could be right on the sticker, just that usually any mark as alloy refers to aluminium alloy in my experience. I've got a heavier all aluminium road frame commuter at the moment, which i like, however the ride can be pretty harsh. how's the ride on the Cadex? (also i'm riding a 56c-c frame, so not 100% sure the Cadex will fit, might come check it out though sometime if that's cool?)

I found the ride quite forgiving, or compliant, and that was over some quite rough roads in my area. On that note, that's why the forks can't be aluminium, they have give in them like steel does.
By all means come and check it out. I'll pm you some details. How tall are you? I never felt cramped on it, and didn't have an especially long stem either. I'm 178cm.

Hey guys, I have a Cadex from that year and the forks are definitely aluminium. Mine's a CFR2 but the fork is identically shaped to that one.

One month on, is this still around?
If it is, I'd grab it.
