Postby AUbicycles » Mon Feb 11, 2013 10:11 am

Leading on from our highly successful 2010 survey - this is your chance to share your experience and views so we can spot the online shopping trends of cyclists.

Our 2013 survey covers activity during 2012 and we invite you to participate and anonymously share details on where and how you shop, as well as to provide your feedback on the current retail situation for cyclists and whether, and how, it can change.

Would you like to know how much Australian cyclists are spending in their local bike shop, and how much online?

Same same. Only encountered one problem: question relating to whether purchasing issues were resolved successfully is mandatory, but only has yes/no response. I havent had any issues so a third option for that would have been more accurate for me. I just answered yes.

Thanks for that - I believe this question however is depends on your previous reponse as to to whether you have ever had a problem - and thus whether it was resolved to your satisfaction. Possible that the wrong radio button was previously checked. A few of the questions are a bit tricky and need re-reading though the format of these is necessary to prevent influencing participants ... and to make it absolutely clear (ie. answer and responses to eliminate room for interpretation).

----

On winning chances, as a game of skill the best answers wins so hope you had a good go. I look forward to reading all of the answers.

----

The promotion of this survey will build up during the week as well, so if you have taken part, thank you ... and you can ignore banners and info to further publiscise... or even better, share it with all of your cycling buddies. In 2010 we had 260 participants and this year we are looking at 500 participants, so more than happy for you to spread the word - the higher the particaption, the more representative this will be.

A quick link you can share to the start of the survey is this: (Removed, survey closed)

Done, though I'm not sure 'touring' accurately captures my (new) primary interest, which is specifically non-competitive organized medium-distance single-day events on a good (racing) road bike. Sounds very specific I know, but I think there's quite a lot of riders that would consider such riding a primary interest.

Yes, touring is spot on.

The challenge is that there are grey areas though this time around corrected an error from the 2010 survey that rendered one question invalid.

Sweet, then you probably have excellent chances of winning a prize.

Try and share this around with cycling friends - I have about 100 responses and am aiming for 500.

Chris, are you able to put a "Share this on Facebook" button on the survey page? Would make it easier to spam my acquaintances.. I mean share their views with the cycling community.

Difficulty answering the "what is your main category of cycling" question.

Most miles would almost certainly be commuting. On a SS CX bike (which gets raced CX occasionally).
Most recreational miles would be road. Recreational hours, probably road.
Preference / "identity" would probably be MTB... most days.
Most $ spent in 2012 would definitely be road.

The only boxes (in the second question) that don't apply are BMX and Tri (which reminds me, I probably should get a BMX). Difficult to pick a single stand-out dot to pick in the first.

Might be a bit late now - I can't recall seeing a back button, there may have been a save (and return) option though am afraid I can provide a better answer.
