Spoke pattern - Rigida Andra 30 CSS 32 hole for rohloff
Postby alexf » Fri Feb 15, 2013 2:02 pm
The Rohloff manual references two different spokes lacings for the European spoke hole pattern and the French spoke hole pattern. As I have no idea what either of these things are, I was hoping those of you who have built the rohloff onto the rohloff specific Rigida Andra 30 rims would be able to tell me which lacing you used.

Regardless the lacing pattern is the same, it's just a matter of which hole you start in. Check the holes either side of the valve hole. If there is any offset, then the spoke must run to the same side hub flange as the hole is offset. Then you need to decide which way the rim will rotate, so you know if it's a leading or trailing spoke.
Also, there's a note in the manual about not crossing the spokes over the screws. But this only applies to 20" wheels from memory, for larger diameter rims cross them over the screws.

Actually on page 55 of the rohloff manual there is a good picture showing the two spoke hole patterns. It looks like the Andra 30 has the French spoke hole pattern. When I look at the valve hole from above (rim on knees, valve hole furthest away), the spoke hole away from my body is to the left of the valve hole.

I don't have the guide. I am getting a bike shop to build the wheel for me, but just wanted to make sure I get the lacing correct in my head.RonK wrote:Did you get Roger Musson's guide? It's discussed in there. To be honest I can't remember what I used. I think the drillings on the Andra are not offset.

Now you are on the right track...take a copy of the manual with you to the wheelbuilder.alexf wrote:When I look at the valve hole from above (rim on knees, valve hole furthest away), the spoke hole away from my body is to the left of the valve hole.
