Durable but not super bright rear light?

Hi,

I'm looking for rear light, but for off road use only, so it needs to be as durable as possible, but brightness is not too much of an issue. In fact it would be better if it was not too bright in case I'm using it for a night event where I don't want to dazzle upcoming riders. Any suggestions?

Edit: Ah, also a silicon/rubber stretchy mounting system is preferred.

Fibre Flare. Really very visible but not unduly bright. Can be mounted in a diversity of ways.

Yes it's a retina fryer but you can dial the power down. Being built like a tank is why I've recommended it.

Out of production (due to faults associated with dirt from tyre spray), replaced with Niteflux Redzone 8..... twice as bright.

May not be the exact model under discussion, but my experiences, as a driver and following cyclist, these "light bars" are next to useless in terms of visibility. With an abundance of high intensity LED lights on the market, the better question is for a super bright rear light that's durable.

I use one of these on my bike for the Mont for exactly the same reason - reliable, but not too bright (sounds like me ) Not waterproof, but water resistant enough to survive.

I usually bail when these events turn wet - not worth the injury risk nor the damage to the bike.

Yep, that may well be the case. I was replying in line with the OP's specs however.

As for the ultimate in durable, reliable and bright lights front and rear I would simply say "dynohub", with the current best-standard LED lights

Actually, the Fibre Flare on flash don't seem to stand out too badly, alongside the neutron blast of the Dinotte 400R.

Thanks for the responses. The Knog light ticks most of the boxes, but having had a few Knog Frog's in the past that I wasn't fussed with I'll have to think that one over.
