Possibly the slowest 50km ride I have ever done today.

We did have a massive headwind coming home for part of the way.

Very jealous of all these ride reports  . Bike is off the road ATM. Have been having trouble with my RH shifter, can't shift to smaller cog.

Did some investigation on the net, tried the WD40 to dissolve thickened grease fix (not effective). So pulled the shifter apart, got as far as this:

Image

but couldn't get any further. Took it in to the LBS, who (after looking a little white when I said I had taken the shifter apart  ) said that the internals are designed as not serviceable; has ordered the part and due to be fixed Thursday. Meanwhile, I am dropping further behind the red arrow . Even worse, my new wheels arrive tomorrow and I can't try them out  .

No riding for me over the weekend because I took my young bloke camping at Bathurst to watch the 12hr race. Great weekend too.

Rode to work today and on a mission to catch back up.

Did you replace the cable before pulling it apart?

I had an issue with mine not changing gear and it turned out to be the cable.

This is what happens when you are unemployed with too much time.

My ultra slow cadence. Watch when I put the hammer down and leave Dave for dead. :)

I've had an issue with a hip that made it seem taht I was doign more harm than good, so I've had a good rest for a week and a bit - Mostly just riding to and from the train stations with a an occasional errand or short hop somewhere.

Today I logged my last 11 days of riding. 127km - 11.5 km per day. That would have to be a record low in about the last 18 months. :(

I expect that with every little niggle I will have an overly active sense of anxiety of it for a while.

The ride home was perfect. I will probably be super-sensitive about every little sensation for a while though.

But ATM I couldn't be more pleased. Fingers crossed for a while now.

The last 18 months or so have taught me that you can never be too careful Colin, and it pays to listen to your body. In any case, glad to hear you're back on the wheel.

Rolled through 1000km ytd this morning on an enjoyable ride around the Redcliffe Peninsular coast. Not much traffic along the front as usual mid week.
This keeps me ahead of the arrow with a little buffer.

My jolly Giant Defy clocked up 15000k last week well before its 3rd birthday in June.
A few stats along the way:
Wore out 3 sets of tyres, 3 chains and a few cables. The wheels (Aksium) are untouched and still running true
Longest ride: 101.7K
Biggest climb: 367m

Yeah, decided that the official photo from my first AAC was something worth getting. Went the 22 megapixel option and am very impressed with the detail. I can zoom in and read things like Garmin and Sony.

Do you mind me asking how much it cost? Just curious for when I sell my own photos.

Hey Norbs I would pay good money if you were able to take a photo that makes me look fast - it seems most photogs are duds who make me look old & fat & slow

I'm catching up to the arrow, and might go green this time next week, depending on the weather.

I like that pic, drnick.

howdy 6ker's, I've been a bit soft during Feb - and a bit busy wedding planning & working. Only done about 200km for the month so far, but yesterday, I participated in The Dirty Dozen - organised by The Climbing Cyclist. It was a last minute decision, a couple of mates were going, and I had the time free, so thought what the hell.
For anyone who doesn't know what it is... look it up, it was insane.
About 65km, with 2100m of climbing. 13 (bakers dozen) of the "best" climbs in the Dandenongs. One of the hardest rides I've done, but with 280 other participants, a few mates (old & new) to ride with, and a sausage sizzle at the end of the ride, it was a great day. Very sore today, but feel a bit better prepared for Baw Baw next weekend (with The Climbing Cyclist & Hells 500)

Anyway, very self indulgent - I haven't read anyone elses posts - but I will have more forum time in a few weeks. Meantime, keep up the riding folks!

Hill repeats for me. It's getting to be a habit.

A is for Asquith
Keira

I'm attempting a 400 this weekend, if I make it I will post a very long report, if I don't, I will post a much longer excuse :)

Singlespeed MTB will give you some interval training :D

What's your plan for the 160km ride this weekend? I am thinking very early start Saturday morning and riding up to Thirroul again.
