Look gawky and survive!

How important is your personal safety to you?
I challenge you to look gawky, wear a bikesign and survive the ride!

I'm a dad, so I can't help it. I try to not look gawky, but that just makes it worse...bychosis wrote:No one WANTs to look gawky

Touché. I'm firmly in the same boat with you. My only saving grace is that the kids aren't old enough to tell me yet.rkelsen wrote:I'm a dad, so I can't help it. I try to not look gawky, but that just makes it worse...bychosis wrote:No one WANTs to look gawky

Is like digging your own grave, I think you'd be more likely to have trouble if you wore plain cycling gear.

Would certainly get people looking... Although you might have a convoy following you at the end of your ride... With bright blue and red blinkies to escort you somewhere unpleasant.

A golden opportunity exists here for these organisations to push the 1m. clearance idea if they wish and at the same time protect riders on the road by using the simplified, briefer, clearer, larger 1m. bikesign as shown in my blog at bikesign.blogspot.com
To PUFFY.The Terrorist outfit is great and you have indeed grasped the true purpose of the bikesign concept.Well done and thanks for your contribution.

Not true. I exercise some degree of control over the traffic behind me using 'vehicular cycling'. If you're unaware of what that is, I suggest that you do an internet search for the term.russell.bathard wrote:A cyclist has no control over traffic passing from behind.Your very life is in the hands of the passing motorist who offers varying degrees of consideration for your safety.

Everyone who has bought one of our SCA jerseys has reported changed (perceived or actual is debatable I admit) driver behaviour when overtaking or driving anywhere near. We're happy with our jersey, however... Who'd buy this thing above? Could be a goer.russell.bathard wrote:To mattwilkinson.I think you are trying to say motorists will behave aggresssively to a bikesign. You are correct, for a small number do abuse you.At least they have seen you, and hopefully avoided you.I am disappointed with the design of the tops produced by the Amy Gillett foundation and Safe Cycling Australia. They do little to protect the rider on the road, being from such an unusual design perspective, from above!and being overly complicated to interpret, particularly for cars approaching at speed.
