Singlespeed MTB will give you some interval training :D

What's your plan for the 160km ride this weekend? I am thinking very early start Saturday morning and riding up to Thirroul again.
Weather isn't looking good. Will decide on Thursday. Not too bothered if I don't do it. Not even sure I have 160kms in me. :)

I've just been looking at the forecast for saturday as part of my due dilligence. The Illawarra and Shoalhaven are promising Rain and windy - to the tune of a 50kph southerly. My 400km failure excuses are starting already

That's changed a heap since I read it this morning! You missed the bit about the possible thunderstorms and the wind turning around to a NE later on, probably just in time for the return leg.

Nice bike Musatang, would love to get a flash harry bike like that myself one day

With out trying to sound like one of those "special people" on the bike gallery thread, it looks like your front tyre might be mounted wrong way around. Rubino's are directional so just find the rotation arrow (hard to see as it's just raised rubber)

No worries, it's certainly sounding like a tough 400 as if 400 wasn't tough enough to start with.

As a bit of an update on me, Feb has been a fairly quiet month. Was hoping to get some more video sorted and uploaded of the Berry Mountain ride and also a bit of the local singletrack but alas my computer has had other ideas with windows becoming corrupt and unbootable and the recovery USB stick I made when I got the computer proving difficult to find. Looks like I may need to contact Dell support.

Rolled out a 55km today. Took it easy but some how managed a token KOM and a 2nd overall. Very pleased. Tomorrow is hopefully my hit out for the Strava Quarq 100 mile challenge. Depending on the fickle Brisvegas weather of course :D

Hi Bosvit,
You read my mind, while looking down on the tyre the other day it crossed my mind it might be on backwards, I'll have a look for that arrow.
Got a ride in today with the bunch, after 7 days off, everything hurts!!!

Oh I hear you there.

I have hardly ridden in the last 3 weeks due to personal issues and I have a 140km ride coming up on Sunday

Nervous just does not seem a strong enough word

Nowra is the same at the moment.

Hope Saturdays 80mm of rain doesn't happen.

I am still going to attempt that 160km Strava challenge anyway.

I've almost given up on riding tomorrow, looking to be a miserable day for anything other than sitting at home and watching the rain. Might try for the 100miles on Sunday when it will only a be chance of miserable with occasional happy periods :)

You proved that wrong :D

I don't think I will be riding tomorrow. Might concentrate on the 15 hr challenge from Monday.

2 more weeks then it's op number 2 for the year.

I will be pinless and plateless and my bicep tendon will be getting relocated.

I just hope it doesn't keep me off the bike too long.

With the 400 being cancelled I've come to the same decision. You free next Friday to do a bit of a recon ride for the Tour de SCUM? I've got an RDO so am thinking heading down that way and having some fun on the 29er would be a good option for knocking a few hours off the challenge.

I should be but will be weather dependent. Plus I don't finish work till around 1 or 2am in the morning so it won't be an early start.

Good one norbs .... knew you had it in you. Now on to your next challenge :D

A question for you Garmin and Strava Guru's.

I ride a 50 odd km course regularly and notice that my altitude reading on Strava has a ? beside it indicating there is a problem.
The Strava output is 231m but when corrected is 170m although another rider has a 304m (no ?) for nearly an identical course plotted on Strava.

I also downloaded to Garmin Connect and the correction disabled reading was 231m but on applying correction it jumped to 567m

What am I to believe?

Garmins aren't always the most realiable for altitude due to poor sat connection (buildings, trees, bike lights, video cameras etc can all hinder it. If you have a trainer wack it will still say you somehow managed to climb something) along with dirt that can block the little holes that it uses (climb 10m but the garmin might read it as 10.5m or 9.5m).

Nice work norbs, a good read that report.

Sounds like the weather is pretty ordinary up your way. Hope you had some cold beer in the fridge :-)

yeah I tried that today too. From 2485m 3.3km! I'll take it but I'm not convinced. Might try Garmin connect too just for interest. The Edge 800 was at least a bit under as I started off from home 10m high and hit Sky High on top of the Dandenongs 50m low.

Yes quite a night. The pictures of the damage in Kiama looked pretty bad.
