Will a Garmin Edge 500 Work online if secondhand?

Postby claymore » Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:25 am

As per topic, will a Garmin Edge 500 work online if secondhand, is there any serials, etc, like a videogame, or is it just create a free account on the garmin website, as long as you have the hardware?
Also, looking for a bang for buck bicycle computer, in case i don't get the garmin...

Thanks in advance guys!

no problems whatsoever, just create a garmin/strava account and away you go uploading your rides

Yeah, I have a second hand one, works fine on most stuff. So Garmin Connect, Strava, bikeroutetoaster etc all work exactly the same as a new unit would.

There was a registration section somewhere on garmin (totally seperate to connect) to do with support where it said the device was already registered to someone else so I had to call instead of lodging an online support request but on the plus side they only required the initial purchase receipt which the original owner sent to me to process as a warranty claim as the warranty is transferable and remains valid for second hand units.
