I came across something a little bit special today, and was wondering if someone could tell me a litltle moreabout it. I have no particular need for a childs bike but could not leave this sitting when I saw it.
I assume it is a 1960's or earlier young childs bike. It is built like a quarter scale roadbike complete with stars on the top of the forks and in the head lugs, pressed rear dropouts and welded in front ones, westwood wheels really excited me too, araya 18x1 3/8 and quite salveagable. It appears to have never had brakes fitted aside from the backpedal rear. It is hard to tell but I would believe the seat and one pedal are the only non-original parts.
The frame is very poorly stamped but I believe it reads
441
11
I will post a photo soon, but I have not been able to spot anything on the web so far relating to early kids bikes, so would love to get an idea of it's ageand see what it may have looked like in it's day.
