=>> Wal42 my specific thanks for your efforts & offering your experience to inspect and then inspecting on my behalf, it really was very much appreciated.
For those considering this item Refer to the listing "photo 10" above the down tube shifters 10-20mm from the head tube lugs. The extra photos taken and provided by Wal42 clearly show the stress lines in the frame tubing paint with rust onset. Also note that turning the item upside down released rusty water from the Head Tube and the Seat tube.
On Flea Bay:
1) Know what you are buying,
2) Ask the necessary questions,
&
3) Above all wherever possible have an experienced set of eyes review the item in question and offer to you their frank assessment.
=>> "Caveat emptor".

Please be conscious of what it posted - while each person is free to retain their own views and opinions - I would ask each member to be conscious of what they post on this public forum, including in this thread where there is a high dose of opinion and preference.
- Take note not to make it personal, whenever the character of a person is challenged this only causes upset.
- If your wish to share criticism of an item, keep it factual and informative and be conscious that it is does not become vindictive, unfair or unreasonable.
Even though the T&Cs in this site/forum state that each member takes responsibility for what they post - I am still first in line and usually suffer the brunt of the reaction if there are problems. Please consider the tens of thousands of hours that have been spent creating and managing this free community forum and what it means to spent more time managing such problems rather than ensuring a positive, active forum can be retained.

Notwithstanding this, it may be prudent to amend the listing, in light of what you now know regarding the overall condition of the frame.

Sorry, quoted post was a couple pages back - The RD & brake levers look like shimano adamas, part of the early 80s shimano aero gear, cranks look like they are also this model which have an interesting splined bottom bracket and external facing bottom bracket cups.ldrcycles wrote:Interesting brake levers. And any idea what that rear derailleur is? I would have guessed a Tourney or RS but there's a cut out in the body.frailer5 wrote:... and just as well some of us here don't think like the seller here
The bike was given to me, but being in the senior/retirement age bracket and not having ridden a bike for 40 or so years, I have decided that something a little less "racey" is probably better (safer!!) for me.

I love old Skool bmx bikes and some folk think they'll bat $2400 for a skyway with modern bits fitted. . Dreamers.
