picked up a very low spec MS in the last Hard Rubbish round in west end....
Odd frame measurement. 62ST 56TT. Thought it was one for the back of the shed, but, with the seat hugging the TT, it fits me like a dream.
Quick rub down of frame and some supacheap replacement parts should see it back on the road.
Does anyone have a reason (marketing, retro or philosophic) as to why it has such odd dimensions ???

Being a mass produced frame, the 56cm top tube was probably used in frames ranging from 62cm down to 55cm seat tubes.landscapecadmonkey wrote: Does anyone have a reason (marketing, retro or philosophic) as to why it has such odd dimensions ???
Without going into a major spiel about geometry/frame design, this method equates to speed of production on a semi
automated assembly line, i.e one Main and Head tube assembly compatible with three or four frame sizes.
Cheers

as a kid in the early 70s i seem to remember adult (racer) bikes without excessive or outrageous seat post lengths..... so that seems to fit.
just thought id tapped a weird long legged, short armed market bike.

wonder if a 25mm seat post makes up for the 'gaspipe' loading ? (prob not)munga wrote:biggest tt length they could do with that gaspipe?
