Just thought I would touch base.
I contracted hooping cough at the end of December and have barely ridden in 6 weeks. (It can take up to 3 months to get over it) so I have not been on here much in that time.
I am quite miserable and miss riding my bikes terribly...

that's ok, i've contracted debt and school fees, and have been off the bike for about the same period. unfortunately, my symptoms could last years..

I should come up in a couple of weeks and we can ride around the block a couple of times and compare our debt woe's. I'm not selling any of my bikes though!

there's been talk of shutting down the rat due to lack of interest, so i'd like some feedback with a view to possibly making a few changes.

1) we have the option of a gateway loop. still about 30km. more traffic, less strava seeking time-trialists. mid-ride stop at bulimba for cawfie and photos.
2) we can do a half riverloop. good: less distance, easier on the old bod if you're coming back to cycling. bad: back before cafe's even open.
3) later roll-out. would a 7am start suit more people?
4) move it to sunday.

i'd like to hear from those of you who have considered coming along, or who have come along maybe once or twice. the regular mob can talk about it offline.
if you have other suggestions, please lay 'em down too!

I like the 7.00am start as it would take me 1 hour approx to get to the start from Palm Beach, this means leaving around 5.45am which is far more agreeable than 4.45 am. So 7.00am would encourage me to come and meet you guys instead of reading about you.

7:00 means even more traffic, both bicycle and vehicular. I'd say keep the 6:00/6:30 winter start, but take a less 'trafficy' gateway trip. Standard riverloop has become a bit tedious.

I think move it to Sunday. Riverloop is getting a bit too dense and pushing it earlier means no shops are open unless the ride is longer. I'd be happy to try gateway Sat and Loop on Sun. Never tried gateway

I don't think anyone is suggesting an earlier start than the present 6:00. Never a problem with shop opening hours in my experience, but if the route were to be shortened, that may be an issue.

Riverloop is Riverloop. Saturday Sunday Weekday Denseday. Gateway has a view.

Raturday is the good way to start the weekend.
6.30 or 7am start is OK for me if that is the concensus.
Riverloop can get a bit repetitive but you guys always bring it to life.
Sometimes I just have to escape to the hills but variety is a good thing.
Maybe every now or then can take in the view from Mt Gravatt ?
