700mm rims on MTB frame

Postby markz » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:16 am

Hi,
I have Giant atx 8xx mtb bike with 26inch wheels with 1.25 inch 100psi tyres.
Has anyone installed 700mm rims on similar bike?
I realize V-brakes might not align with the 700mm rims.
Can new v-brake arm be adjusted? Or new ones purchased?
Thanks
Mark

They sound sweet.

On my MTB with disc brakes, the 700c wheels I have fit in nicely. I can't say whether or not your v-brakes can be adjusted far enough for it to work. Some will.

Cheers,
Graeme

There are forks available that will take either 26" or 700 wheels; the canti brake studs are in two positions (removable) so you can do what you'd like. They also cater for disc with IS mounts built on as well.
Clearance may be a issue depending on the profile of what tyre you use.
Rear canti levers will be a bit more interesting.
