Chrome fixie/track frames?

Postby YouAgainstMe » Sat Mar 09, 2013 9:14 am

Hi all,

I am trying to find a chrome frameset in a larger frame size (60cm+) for around $300. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I might be able to find one? I am happy to buy o/s.

Mojo bikes do the speedracer in a mirror/chrome finish, but it's just a plain gauge cro mo ,so pretty heavy for a steel frame.

I don't mind if it's heavy because it will be a commuter but I mostly just want a frameset so I can build it with parts I want. Do mojo sell just frames? I really like the look of the BLB chrome track frame but it will cost me about $550 delivered which is a bit much.

You could just buy the mojo complete and sell off all the parts.

Just a thought...

The thought to part one out had crossed my mind but to be honest can't be bothered listing and posting parts. I contacted mojo and they sell just the frameset so at the moment my options are:

Mojo Speedracer, 4130 crmo, $330 delivered -
Image

Colossi cheeko, Single Butted 6061 Aluminum, approx $380 delivered -
Image

BLB Track frame, 4130 Cro-Mo Steel, approx $550 delivered -

Anyone know which of these are better? Or feedback on any of them?

The Mojo will be heavy, but solid. The track ends may be a bit !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !!.

The cheeko will be frame only, you'll have to buy a fork separately, and pay extra for a fully sik paint job (i've enquired about colossi's before)

The third one, tig welded tubes, ugly unicrown fork and overpriced. Can't see it being any better than the mojo (which at least has a lugged fork)

I'd probably just buy the mojo and pull the stickers off. Cheap, easy.

Hey, thanks for the reply mate. The cheeko price includes the forks and delivery from the states. So I am between that and the mojo at this stage... Decisions decisions...

That's stupid cheap for the cheeko. Significantly dearer going through the Australian distro!

Yep what he said^

Mojo is on PG cromo so will weigh a lot more than the cheeko.

And as for the unicrown fork on that last frame  Unicrown forks are about as wrong as seeing ya mum and dad having it off!
Have you asked gear in Brisbane if they can price match?

+1 to cheeko.

it fits your bill and bonus weigth saving is good....

You can also search for some complete built-up cheeko frame to help decision making.
