G'day
I have managed to strip the thread on one side of my Tektro RX-5 85mm mini v-brakes (front) screw adjuster so don't have that fine adjustment. I have a bit of a fix in place with the spring bent but would prefer to get it sorted properly.
I can pick up a front no-name v-brake from the LBS for $11.00 net (I have a discount voucher for them) or should I "lash out" on a set of Avid Single Digit 7 2008 or similar (assuming they fit of course)? What I am asking is there likely to be that much difference in performance?
This is on my Giant CRX 1 which is my wet weather commuter so good front brakes are important.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Andrew

Clearly I don't know which is why I asked "What I am asking is there likely to be that much difference in performance?"LuckyPierre wrote:Isn't this really the answer to your question?Aushiker wrote: ... Thanks Caelum and Munga
I dropped into Bike Force at Fremantle and they had a Shimano Deore M-530 front v-brake for $35 so I grabbed that. Longer arms but that shouldn't be an issue on the front. More solid build too. I shall find out if it makes difference once fitted.
For a price comparison the same brake at Chain Reaction is $17.35, however with postage it comes to $38.41.
Regards

G'day
Completed the installation of the Deore brakes this morning. Not without its hassles. More my lack of knowledge/skill than anything. Details on my blog.
Regards
