2013 Strava Climbing Challenge
Postby Dan » Thu Mar 14, 2013 7:15 am
I actually adjusted mine a number of times until I figured out what was realistic.
Not having done it before, and thus not having a previous year to which I could refer, my first target was an arbitrary selection, based on the extremely scientific rationale of 'yeah that sounds pretty good'.
A target which is unattainable is just a number. Something attainable though? Well, that's something completely different...

120-ish km and 2700-ish m for the day, I am hammered. Really pushed it all day, good average speeds across the board, swag of PR's and few top 10's to appease the strava gods. But bonked really, really hard in the last 5km, #yolo*.
*Sarcastic use of yolo, I wouldn't really say that in real life. Hashtag for dramatic effect.

Next week is most likely going to be a pretty easy week, probably similar amount of climbing, just easier roads. Splitting my weeks up into easy and hard weeks seems to work alright.

Not even trying. This a good challenge. Has anyone done a million metres gained before? Strava is so much fun. Best thing ever for the cycling community.

stinhambo wrote:Had my very first clip stack last night. I got to the top of a short but steep hill and I needed to get some breath so I went to unclip one side and as I did I got a cramp so I instinctively switched body weight to the other side and the same thing happened to that leg! So with both legs cramping, I just curled my body up and landed on my side. No-one was around and all I could do was laugh! I couldn't get up though as I then got a cramp in my stomach muscles.
This is a challenge indeed!
I remember falling over in the mud once. Work mates when I turned up to work thought it was pretty funny.

One can ride 200k a day and still work 9-5. Its just about priorities. I don't ride 200k cos its not a priority for me.singlespeedscott wrote:Do you not have a job or something?durianrider wrote:Im already at 180 000+

I work typically 70hours a week behind the computer. 7 days a week. 11 out of 12 months of the year. I normally have January at quarter working hours.

Time elapsed was actually 11h35m because I forgot to stop the timer at the finish.
