Got some bad slashes on my gp4000s tyres and still ran them tonight but not keen to push my luck.
Was offered these for $50 each today from a friend and hadn't seen/heard of them before.
Any good ?

can't help you on the Maxxis, but curious about your issue with the GP4000S.
I'd been having a good run for about 3000km with mine until a recent sidewall cut. I've booted it up with some gaffa taped but I'm a a bit a disappointed nonetheless. Have some Conti 'tater skin "hard shells" now on order as sucessors once I've decided I've pushed my luck enough with the boot on the GPs.
Are your cuts on the tread or sidewall?

Centre of tyre, no tread, they're a slick in the centre.
Really like them, run well, light and no drama, just noticed the slash and a slight hernia starting.
I went into 99 bikes as they had 2x gp4000s and 2 tubes for $99 but none left in store.

I had few tread cuts upto my sidewall incident, but nothing too piercing or ugly.
I do do the partial deflate, squeeze/turn/squeeze/turn... routine looking for new intrusions every 300 or 400km.

I liked them, raced on them for a while, grippy rubber, slick, great on the wet roads.wurtulla wabbit wrote:Got some bad slashes on my gp4000s tyres and still ran them tonight but not keen to push my luck.

Ended up not getting them. I let slip to the dude at revolution that I was getting them from a friend of a friend for cheap and he put 2+2 together, got on the phone whining like an old woman that I was getting stuff at his prices (wasn't actually but he wasted it anyway) so the fella declined to sell to me after that.
Not fussed, revolution is the last chicken in woollies for me, only go there now as a last resort.
Prob never give him another cent after that (previously got about 1500 from me and a mate in one hit ! )
So...2xGP4000s and 5 tubes for $87.00. That's $13 less than he wanted....
No wonder bikes shops are struggling, he would still be getting sales from myself and 3 mates but now has shafted himself and me !
Good work Russel !
