Shimano HG61 9-Speed chain compatibility??

hey i have a Shimano HG61 9-Speed cassette and i have read that i need a HG chain to fit it due to the width. is this true? I want to put a SRAM PC991 9 Speed chain on it. Will it fit correctly?
