Wal, Vaeske & myself will also be in the 100k from Landsborough. Wal should be on his Vertex, Vaeske on a Moser and me, we'll I haven't decided yet. We will be taking the train to Landsborough so we might see you there.

Cool. I've got at least one mate catching the train with me and possibly a couple more.

I'll also be catching the train to Landsborough for the 100km start. Maybe us BNA's should all catch up at the start :P

I'll shamelessly hijack this thread by saying I'm forgoing all events pre-April in lieu of the Lions CCIA fun ride in which myself, Wazza and Elantra are participating. Its fully subscribed now, but its a 5 day, 400 odd km tour beginning and ending in kingaroy, with overnights in nanango, goomeri & murgon ( I think there's a kingaroy prologue to kick things off, too) ;) .

You can contact any of us if you wish to donate, with all funds going to the children's cancer institute of Australia.

I sent an email to the organisers and got a reply telling me that there will be confirmation, T&Cs sent for Sunday's ride either Wednesday or Thursday.

Weather sucks for training with rain predicted now until Saturday

The cycle of giving turned out to be a very good and enjoyble ride. The weather was mostly sunny with a few sprinkles of rain here and there not long after the start but the hummidity... guuuuuuhhhhhhh it sucked the life out of my legs. Could have done with a longer charter train though... It was like peak hour at the CBD stops but with bikes haha.

Jokes aside kudos to the organiser/Queensland Rail for even going that extra step and providing the express charter train to Landsbrough. It was always going to be a squeeze getting everyone on but it only took 65mins to get the 80km there from the City. Can't also forget to thank the volunteers that helped out to make the ride possible. Final thank you goes to the rider who knew how to finish in style by launching off a the most stupidest installed speed bump ever at the finish line :)

Had fun today on that ride !
Was surprised to see so many riders leave landsborough today !
Spoke to some lovely people all day passing them, passing me,at water stations etc.

Wore my evil knievel getup today ( it was a charity ride afterall :D)and finished just in 3h30mins dead.

Only gripes, no water stops from caboolture to chermside. About 60klms with no water stop which was supposed to have 2 stops in the 100klm ride and the late arrivals coming back to the sunny coast would have drama as the next train to landsborough was 6pm, pretty poor !

Otherwise, great event ! Even got sunburn (who wudda thunk it ? )

You missed the Clontarf rest stop! Plenty of water fruit and electrolyte there.

Yes, it was a great ride.

Was there ? Before the bridge ? Yeah , missed it :D

We stopped at a little shop at a corner off the seafront at far end of Brighton :D

Ah well, not to worry, we survived !

Yep, missed the Clontarf rest stop (where the parking lots/picnic tables were on the beach side). If someone missed getting bottles of water/powerade there was also a giant water refilling station available. I didn't stop at the Caboolture rest stop to refill and paid that price when I got to Deception Bay when I realised that I had consumed half of the second bottle on the way to Roma Street. Doh! Ended up at the servo buying some chocolate and drinks outside the Redcliffe Hospital a few km from the rest stop

Had a good ride from Landsborough. Rode with a fairly fast bunch through to Caboolture and the pace was well up over 30km/h. Couple of crazy young blokes on fixies, having a good time. I even had a nice long stint on the front of the bunch, which was pretty cool. 8) It was bit slower from Redcliffe to the finish, but still got done in 3hr15min or so. I didn't stop strava at the end of the ride as I was going on to the 100mile strava challenge, but that was easily the fastest 100 I've done. No cramps for me! I guess the riding I've done since the Rainbow Ride is paying off. Such a nice route and pretty easy compared to the Rainbow & Ipswich 100's I did last year.

I'd do it again I reckon. Thanks to the organisers on a job well done. There was stacks of food and drinks at the stops and the free train up to the start was great.

So the lead bunch was only 15min in front of us (me and 2 mates) ??

Thought there would have been some guns out there today doing well under 2.5hrs ?

no idea. The bunch I was in suited me just fine. I think you're right, there'd have been guys that were miles ahead.

Cycle of Giving was indeed an excellent event, quite well organised and the route was good.

Good to see so many out and I hope the event continues for many years to come.

After the ride I spoke to one of the organisers, she's asking if anyone has any camera/video footage from the ride if they would be willing to send a copy to them for publishing on their site, especially helmet cams etc. (Wal42?)

A massive brawl almost errupted when a pack of hungry hungry cyclists turned up to the tent to see who would claim the last remaining snag.

But disaster was averted when a refilled plate of freshly hot cooked snags came out a couple seconds later

They would like too but many don't at all. I think they raised 900k last year for MS.

Its more of a proper charity ride than a group social ride so to say. You don't have to donate if you do not want too. I donated last year by buying a jersey :P
