my daily ride, ken & paul evans built evolution. main tubing is crimpled in a similar manner to gilco, told most likely some sort of dedaccai. full ultegra 6500, mavic aksium race and modolo bars shimmed to fit 130mm cinelli stem. also spends time with velo orange milano bars and city levers using 105 dt shifters in friction, can't find any suitable pics though.

I picked up one of those. The label on it I am sure was Columbus. Interesting bike, surprisingly light weight. To bad about the surface rust all over it. Typical of old Triathletes bikes unfortunately.

Here's another Kysrium SL bike. Royal Star by Ron Bates - 9 speed ultegra with Dura Ace mech, 9.31kg. Its got a Tange BB but I think it's 531. Originally rode this in the eighties with a full Zeus group. I really like it.

Hoping I followed the how to load a photo instructions right....

Is that why the front wheel gets cut off in the photos. Why is photobucket so complicated or is it my brain.
Good looking bikes though.

The cropping of the photos is due to the forum's html (ad space on the RHS, % based username box on LHS) and also the size/resolution of your monitor. On my 24" 1920x1200 pixel display the photos are uncropped but if I make the window smaller they get cut off.

Regarding the bikes: while I don't mind a modern wheelset on a classic frame, I'm not a fan of the threadless stem conversion (or the matching black seat post) but each to their own, both nice bikes.

That's one of my pet hates. Dumbest idea ever. Looks terrible. A classic quill stem is so much better. Cheaper and easier to find than a 1" threadless stem as well.

+1, threadless stems just clash.

Sounds insulting. Sorry to give offense. The rest of the bike looks great though.

Ever done any Fishing Rod building or repair? The thread wrapping wouldn't look out of place binding a guide onto the rod.

You're my new meccanico di squadra. I reckon that with work like that and if you watch the beginning of "A Sunday in Hell" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ktTXjSqvJc 15 times, you'll be about as gnarly and grumpy a practitioner of the old art of meccanico pedantry, as me old mate Dazza http://www.llewellynbikes.com.

Okay, so I'm building up an old time-trial 'funny bike' and was looking for a 650c front wheel, I saw this and bought it for not much moolah intending to strip it but, it's so cute built up that I think I might leave it as is

I can't ride it as I'm 6'4" and this has 650c wheels so I'm not sure how long I'll keep it (or keep it complete)
Not easy to tell just how tiny this thing is because of the smaller wheels but, believe me it's a little'un
