That brings back memories. I lived in Freo for about 8 years, and must have ridden just about every road there. I lived near the corner of South St and Hampton Rd. It's a pity that South Terrace still isn't a mall, though.Aushiker wrote:61328840

Top stuff Definitely on my to do list. Climbed in the drops the whole way ? What gearing did you run ?VRE wrote:My toughest ever mountain ascent. My legs hurt just thinking about it. Was heaps of fun, though .

I was in the lowest gear of 34/28. Good thing, too: those using higher gears, e.g. 39/28, were forced to 'snake' their way up the mountain. This was part of an organised ride up Mt Baw Baw organised by the Hells 500 crew for the 7 Peaks Challenge, and about 80 or more cyclists rode up it, plus other who weren't part of the group.Chuck wrote:Top stuff Definitely on my to do list. Awesome effort VRE. I think I would have passed out half way up... How long is the climb?

Here's a description: http://theclimbingcyclist.com/climbs/ba ... t-baw-baw/. In summary: 5.7km with 4.2% average grade, then 6.5km with 11.5% average grade (with one point having 20% grade). So the final 6.5km is the tough bit.JohnJoyner wrote:VRE wrote:My toughest ever mountain ascent. My legs hurt just thinking about it. Was heaps of fun, though .
