Anyone tried them? How do they compare to the OCRs?

Yeah I'm thinking about it.

I'm thinking about spending somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000, the less the better, looking for something a bit comfortable and a bit fast. ATM planning on keeping the S500 as a utility bike and not fitting a rack to the new one.

Hubby considered one of these, but heard from our LBS who specialise in Treks that they are quite difficult to come by. I don't know whether they are just not imported into Aus in numbers.

You may not be able to find one to test ride - we couldn't.

the pilot 2.1's are a sweet bike , very nicely decked out too , one of the guys in our social ride group has one.

Trek annoys me intensely. The Aussie distributor is only interested in racing bikes and cooking version commuters. Anything else is too hard, but if you nag enough and have a good shop on your side, you can get anything. Sadly, too many bike shops share the delusion that if it's not a racing bike, it's not an option (read back to my story about buying the Black Beast ... and I had a very good dealer on my side).

our lbs Hoffy cycles is a trek specialist and has a 1.2 pilot hanging in the showroom. he was able to secure the 2.1 for the gent i mentioned earlier.

If you live in brisbane or close enough he might be able to help you out

Nah, in NSW.

I'm going have a look around generally too, I've got to save a bit more until I have more money than sense - which is harder than it used to be cause I'm growing a little bit more sense these days.

I remember having $1000 in the bank meaning you'd go and spend $1000 that weekend...
