Quite a big frame, looks like about 1984-1986.albertgaleano wrote:Hi i just scored me a Malvern Star Excel, would it be worth getting it back to life??? Any idea of the age???
Definately worth resurrecting.
I would suspect that they are 27 inch wheels.
Good find.
P.S. find a saddle for it.

I want to ride in L'Eroica at Beechworth in April and the cut off is supposed to be 1980s or earlier.

Serial number would indicate Perth 1944, with the likely addition of the SA hub at a later date. Pics?retrobikeforager wrote:Found a Malvern Star 2 star in the shearing shed. Serial number is 4P326. I am from WA and assume the P means made in Perth. The sturmey archer hub has 53 on it. I'm assuming the frame was made around 1953. Can anyone shed any light on this?

That's one beautiful Five Star. I'm guessing 22 1/2 inch seat bar.
Any chance of some more history on it? Was it built in Melbourne, What club your Dad rode for, etc.
Cheers

He bought it in 1970 from a guy who had matching 5 stars, one road and one track.
He never road it once..
