Hanging for work to end so I can get out on the pushy. Only bad thing is it gets dark so early now so can only get about 40kms in.

A decent set of lights really helps for that. I'm going to be testing out my new light this Thursday headed upto Ardross in the evening. Of course I'm taking a spare set in case something goes wrong.

I've been off my bike for over 5 weeks now, missing it and missing aiming for the black millipedes as well. Having fat tyres helps

Agreed. Just did 70 mins up and down the Roe PSP and it was very pleasant in both directions. I was enjoying the ride so much I almost forgot to aim for the millipedes.

I trust you've been along the PSP between Cockburn and SafetyBay Rd? The underpass' along the path is infested with them. MILLIONS of centipedes!

No, that's outside my regular ride.

The downside of aiming for the little buggers is that when you raise the drink bottle, you're not sure if it's grit or millipede guts all over the top.

I have mudguards on the commuter full time. I reattach mudguards on the roadie when needed. It makes rides so much more enjoyable on wet days. Even though it is rare that we get rained on while riding in Perth, it is often wet on the road in winter, which is where mudguards save you from getting a dirty back and bike. Happy days!

I'm the same as red rider and just leave the mud guards on the commuter all year. It is amazing the number of people who water shared paths during summer. Examples, city of Vincent depot in Osborne park and block of flats at city west PSP.

I have a mudguard on the back of the road bike, but not on the front. Got home yesterday with grit halfway up my legs and all over the bike frame, so I might reconsider the front mudguard. It does keep the mess down a bit.

I have a hybrid with full mudguards for wet weather & haulage trips, the guards are Planet Bike Cascadias and officially the best thing ever.

Last week a tin of fresh paint had fallen off a tradies ute and was strewn across the bike lane. Glad I had mudguards, you just never know what you're gonna get in the big wide world!
