Thanks for clearing that up Ron.
On a side note: I had called customs earlier and they said that the FTA only applies when the bicycle is wholly made in the USA (I don't see how that is possible when factoring in components).

i posted in a thread intended for the wiggle shoppers earlier in the week but heard no response, thought I might give this thread a go since planet-x is from the UK too.
long story short, ordered a complete valued at $1,462 (discounted) and the DHL shipment has already arrived in Perth late last Friday. Status is currently on a clearance event, and I'm not too sure if I should be pre-emptive and fill out a import form? Or will this be done by DHL? And how will I go about paying the GST and import duty (if applicable, heard completes aren't slapped with these charges)?
Any help appreciated!

Just wait - it will either be delivered, or they will contact you first for payment.
With luck yours won't be one of the random packages inspected, and you won't have to pay anything.

On-one provided me with a refund.rifraf wrote:Hi Marty Moose,Marty Moose wrote:I've enjoyed this thread as I'm about to buy a Planet X track bike I think, cheers to the OP and the feedback.

as much as I'm really miffed at receiving incorrectly described fenders, I do acknowledge On-Ones willingness to assist and communicate which are both very important attributes of good service.
Due to my experiences with them putting right my purchase of said fenders which went pear shaped during
the buying/site registration process I fully expect there to be an amicable outcome.
I'm a little sore having had such a frustrating purchase experience compounded by an incorrect description and a general impatience with delivery times.
However tomorrow I'll be less focused on the problem and more on the solution.
I'm confident in the desire of On-One to retain me as a repeat customer and to offer a solution that works somewhat for both of us.
I've seen enough positive outcomes in this thread to say go for it.
I wouldn't let one tale of frustration get in the way of buying a bike frame you like
"In Full" including "all" postage costs.
They kept me informed via email during the process.
A thoroughly professional outcome, I hold their example as a "What should happen" when things go wrong.
I was understandably disappointed with the initial problem but I've received my funds in full, with no request
for onward posting of the item anywhere. (I get to keep the fenders)
I've nothing to complain about and am very happy with their resolution.
Just in case anyone wondered.

Sorry for digging this up was looking for fender solutions. Even still over a year later some online bike stores (On One now seems ok) do not have a https link on the credit card payment page which means any details sent are not encrypted and can be intercepted.rifraf wrote:My computer popped up a message to tell me it was possible others could see my info and did I want to proceed. I thought perhaps I'd go with the paypal option after all so pushed cancel.
Anything sent or received over http (without a https link) can be intercepted and/or modified. That includes logging into a forum (like this one).
As a general rule for online shopping I start by typing (or using a bookmark) https://www.on-one.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and try stay within https for the entire shopping session. Some sites will redirect back to http not sure why since technically it is not bloody difficult.
