Item: Olmo Frame
Postage Available: Yes, if need be.
Details: This Italian made Olmo was from a fellow BNA member that I grabbed for the 600 groupset. Frame is a 57cm ST, 56cm TT, and is slightly too large for me. Made from Oria Tubing, with a little bit of rust around, as seen in the pics.
Some faded sticker with the Olympics rings on it
Top tube rust
Seat post bolt. Have fun finding soemthing to open this. I was thinking that a socket would work, but iits a fit between 8 and 9mm. Seatpost is a 27.0, and am unsure if its stuck. I have sprayed some Inox in, but still cant tell if it is stuck or not.
Possibly a 600(6400) BB. Didnt need the bottom bracket, so you get it for free. Needs a BB cable guide.
You get whatever you see in the pics, minus the headset. So you will be getting the bare frame with the bottom bracket.
Looking for $50. If thats too dear, then please make me an offer as Im not 100% sure on the frame's value.
Alright, Ill chuck in it for you. Its just a full chromed steel fork, which has spots of surface rust as well.
I probably needed to be more specific. I'm after an Olmo fork, with the pantographed crown - apologies. Good price on the frame though - you shouldn't have it for long.
Youre second in line then. However, I believe postage will make it a little bit expensive for Snicks.
Munga - no serial number according to QV, but I have done a bit of research and come to the following conclusions;
The frame is probably an Olmo Corsica from 1989
The 'faded' sticker on the downtube would be a 50th anniversary sticker, and since Olmo began in 1939, that dates it as 1989 as above.
The tubing is hi-tensile as on the pic (equivalent to columbus aelle or whatever it is called), which later that year (I believe) was changed to TT 8.0, which is the decal found on most other corsica's
Corsica's came specced with mostly shim 600, consistent with what QV was saying he pulled off.
Wow, you must know your stuff on Olmo's now. Had a look again for a number this morning in better light, and still can't find any, other than a 57 stamped into the bottom bracket lug nearest the downtube(slightly visible in final pic).
Will contact you later regarding postage costs.
Need parts to finish off the frame? Well, check out the RSX and 600 stuff Ive got. Will do a good deal if you wanna grab this frame with anything else.
Frame is still available at $50 with any offers welcome!
I find it incredible that this hasn't sold at pretty much a give away price. If you were in Hobart, like Spirito, I'd definitely have given you a slab of beer (not a case ) as well as the $50!
LG = Low Gear
That's a mass produced low end Tecnotrat frame, like the imported Europas and some of them ended up labeled as geurcotti too. It would have an English BB as well.
Hi tensile is Gas pipe steel and below Aelle which is Manganese Moly.
The .08 tubes that followed on Oria Tecnotrats were simply a pedestrian Plain Gauge Cr Mo.
Tecnotrat it seems were Making frames for many peole in the 80's, they then became De bernardi.
