There are some good ones but a lot are junk ridden by less than 100 ppl etc, and there is one on a bikepath
I think the last time I got 3 in a ride was the Brissie to Gold Coast

Anyone had a look at the current Spring Classic Challenge? There's a guy destroying everyone riding 380kms a day so far, turns out he's doing a charity ride thing- trying to break the world record for solo riding around Australia. Pretty cool stuff.

Your GPS gave you up to 20 kmh upgrade on speed over the cateye!. Get a Garmin! mine is usually ~2kmh of the cateye even over a short segment. But I'll take your Strava-Special-GPS

That just ridiculous! Only 365km yesterday and paltry 5000m elevation. Even if I could achieve that in a day, I couldn't even go near a bike for a week afterwards.

Bryton 35... silly machine. From what I can tell, Strava is simply taking a time over the segment anyway. Notice that for ties on time, the average speeds are identical, even though it is quite possible for the average speed to be slightly different over the same 60 seconds? I reckon I would must have registered a high 12 second run... look at the speeds actually recorded. No WAY they will be 70kmh peaking... if they are, I'm calling up the AIS for some help getting to the Olympics

Look at the " Alt leader board " for any segment on veloviewer is broken and you will realize how inaccurate strava is on short segments... long segments aren't that much better to tell the truth but the time gaps are usually a bit bigger between riders.

i agree it's inaccurate over short distances. i hold some of the fastest times ever on the HCC crit circuit. there's no way i'm that fast - i've just ridden it a lot. eventually, the GPS/strava error will go in my favour.

i also have VAMs on climbs of 6000+. making joaquim rodriguez look like a pudgy cyclotourist

The hardest thing about strava is when someone gives you kudo's and you know they are from BNA but their strava name doesn't match their BNA name :| .

Has anyone else noticed the 'impressive' top 2 for the May Massive? 45,458km in 6 days is pretty solid  . Even the number 2 is a long way ahead of the rest on over 14,500k. It does demonstrate to a rather embarrassing degree just how inaccurate things can be.

EDIT: forgot to ask, the other day I deleted my display pic to upload a new one, and now can't get that photo or the old one to upload. Any tips?

I'm sick of the challenges. They are fantastic for HTFU junkies like Sandy and Tim Watt, who can conceivably put in the kilometres, but I had the biggest month of my life at 1187kms and I still didn't hit the April Challenge. I feel somewhat concerned for the leaderboard people - seems like they are mentally handicapped at some level, to put in those hours on the bike... maybe they are bionically connected to the seatpost, my sit bones can barely cope with the current workload

You will find those results are a result of a STRAVA glitch.

April was my biggest month ever, but as I was training for an event coming up in May it ended up quite easy. I didn't go out of my way at all to hit the Strava target, just did my training; 120+ on Saturdays, 80+ on Tuesdays, maybe a bit on Thursday and commuting as well. Also did a 170+ day for 3 Dams, it all adds up!

Finishers:
1. Damien Taylor 158%
2. Dave Crook 154%
3. Barry Jones 135%
4. Mitchell Hayward 131%
5. Wal E 126%
6. Rob Cumine 111%
7. Joshua Saunders 109%
8. Adrian Vos 106%
9. Luke Hamilton 105%
10. Jason C 103%
11. Grant White 103%
12. Tristan Ward 103%
13. Hayden Campbell 102%
14. SG darkelf921 102%
15. Ben Jones 102%
16. John Beaven 101%
17. Jason Janetzky 100%
18. Andrew Yang 100%

The top two were from Brisbane, there were 5 each from Brisbane and Perth. Must have been good weather! :)

For me (106%) it took a fairly active effort to complete the challenge. Because of the weather and some family commitments I was well behind at ten days to go. I had a big week of 580kms on the week of Anzac day (taking friday off for a ride), and that got me over the line. I was pretty knackered at the end of it, and my butt certainly needed a rest!!

well done to all who completed the challenge. About 1150kms of mine was commuting, and was lucky to get time allowed for a few weekend rides. The "massive may" is a bit of a joke at 1000kms. That's pretty easy for people like dimma (2 weeks?). I should get there. but having just fallen off the bike, I may be a bit slow the next fortnight.

I had 23 rides last month, which is heaps for me leaving only 7 days off the bike.
None were commuting, however 8 were River loops which are only 65 kms bringing my numbers down.

Woohoo! 14th and I got sick in the last week of April :-) still not over this cold yet so May's challenge is going to be a little harder to achieve.

Good list - thanks. I got there comfortably in the end. Anzac Day made the difference. Plus smashing myself in the last week - my legs are still sore. But May looks like being a debacle with only two shortish rides so far, so I should at least be recovered soon. :|

I'll decide if I want to join the challenge later in the month... currently on track for a top 5 in my followed list, despite not riding since Saturday. Big rides make the difference!
