Oh well, I am quite used to the existing detour - almost feels permanent, doesn't it?

Good afternoon,
please be informed that the revised completion date for the reopening of the Leach Hwy/Bull Creek access road and PSP has been pushed back by one week, due to the unavailability of subcontractors.
Completion is now scheduled for Wednesday 8 May, as wet weather is forecast from this Thursday to Sunday which means work cannot be undertaken on these days.
If the wet weather continues after Sunday, this date could change again. I will provide an update on Monday 6 May to advise.
We sincerely apologise for having to change the completion date and we understand and share your frustration with these delays.
Please be assured that we are doing all we can to complete these works.
Thank you again for your patience.
Hannah - on behalf of the project team.

They have hot mixed the strip to the east of the car park leading down to and under Leach Hwy.
It may still need some more rolling and perhaps a coat of bitumen rolled on top of it to ensure good binding between what are obviously two separately rolled strips.
It'll then need markings - paint and pretty pics of bikes and peds, etc.
And the existing blocked off section to the south hasn't been cleaned up yet though this is probably just a matter of some weeds and encroacing bushes and a general sweep.
And of course I have no idea if there is some excavated path sections out of sight that need to be rebuilt. But if not then I suppose opening the week after next is doable.

The path south of the site is unchanged.
Fingers crossed.

From what I see the cleanup of existing path only needs a labourer with a wheelbarrow, a broom and a spade. And a half day I'd venture.please be informed that the revised completion date for the reopening of the Leach Hwy/Bull Creek access road and PSP has been pushed back by one week, due to the unavailability of subcontractors.
I trust that the head contractor will not claim a lack of available resources if there is any further delay after completion of the road and path if all that is required is the cleanup. I can't see any reason why that cleanup can't be done before road and path completion.
I have a sinking feeling however.

1) Maybe he's cleaning the whole section right through the Leach Highway underpass, ready for re-opening,
and
2) Wouldn't it be nice if they swept the PSP every day !
Regards,
Rusty

Looks like he was going right up the PSP.
I hope he plans to do it again this week, it's a mindfield on the PSP at the moment.

Does it make sense to operate a road sweeper during 4:45pm and 5:30pm? Isn't that our peak hour rush for the PSP. Maybe we could suggest Main Roads to do this on the freeway during the same hours.

Just my luck, they're probably start work on something like the northbound Farrington offramp and close off that section now.

Not sure what specific things you expected. There are a few things that I would have liked them to address but there have been significant improvements elsewhere in the course of the works, just not necessarily this one section.scirocco wrote:First time through what struck me was how little the actual cycle track has changed. I hope someone else has benefited from the 12 month closure or whatever it was, because it has certainly made no difference to us on bikes.
While it took way too long, I am happy enough with most of the outcome. And it probably got paid for out of roads funding.

For me, it would have been nice if they'd repaved the entire section, considering how much damage their equipment did to the existing path on the south side of Leech. I can't believe how uneven and cracked that section is now, obviously going to be crumbling apart over the next couple years.ColinOldnCranky wrote:Not sure what specific things you expected.
