My daughter will ride it in approx 2 years when she's old enough, she chose the colour for the bike..
The original saddle was a kids bell saddle so must have been replaced sometime after the bike came to Australia

Huret shifter caps off a 1978 BSA Tour of Britain. The one on the right did end up looking like the one on the left.
Idr,
What was the method?
Coke? Maserati Cotton Wadding(now Eagle one at Super Cheap Auto)? Autosol?

Cheers to tony (redrover) for the frame, and munga for the group.
And a massive thanks to Dan for providing general guidance/fielding my stupid questions along the way.

Definitely learnt a lot of lessons on this build. Particularly in the paint department. As the old adage goes: it looks good from far, but far from good. Aha.
Took it for a 40km shake down this afternoon... still got a few creases to iron out, but all going to plan I'll try and join you guys for a spin on Saturday.

My latest effort, a 1965 Local Cycle Co. roadster, made in South Brisbane. It has obviously spent a long time in a garden somewhere and just removing the parts was hard yakka, I had to cut through the BB axle to get the cranks off. The only original parts left are the frameset, headset, brake callipers and cable guides. Currently running a Shimano Nexus 3 speed but it isn't perfect with the Sturmey trigger shifter so something will change there. Rides really nicely.

And after

After: with the addition of parts from a hard rubbish pickup a couple years ago.
Group set - Shimano XT 'deer head'
Freewheel - shimano 600 13-34
Rims - Araya RM25
Pedals - Suntour XCII
Headset - Tange Levin
Stem and seat post quick release - early Suntour
Rolls saddle
Should be perfect for easy cruising, it has a very long wheel base and very relaxed angles. Quite happy with how this turned out.

Sadly, this will take over the cruiser role from my late 80s Reynolds framed Peugeot MTB which is a bit small for me, so I'll probably look at moving it on soon.
