frailer5, pm sent, but in case you can't get it because your inbox is full :D
Yes you can manually delete PMs - go to your inbox, mark the PMs you want to delete, bottom right of the page you will see a drop box "mark/unmark as important" select that and it will give you an option to delete.

So I think ive figured the posting images thing!
Welcome Muzzie, you are close but not quite right - I presume you have read how to post images. Fortunately for you, Flickr makes it easy - on the image you wish to post, click the drop box "share" (top centre), select "Grab the HTML/BBCode", copy pasta & you are done, eg

The important part for the image is

Code: Select all

The rest just gives you a link, description etc

Nice bike, I particularly like how you got the rear wheel to match the undercoat you chose :D

Hi All,
 "Photos A Hoy" Thanks for the help there.

This is of my Ricardo Elite after i had turned it single by grinding off the derailer hanger and down tube shifter lugs! Sacrilege! also the top tube cable housing holders.
Primed grey and patchy it wasnt my best looking bike. I was after a roady to use in the wet so decided to give it a clean up, figuring a single speed was going to need less maintainence than one with gears.

So this is after I had it sand blasted and primed ($50) and id sprayed it pewter from a can, beautifully I might add. In the process of setting up a front break now and the original drops back on a shorter stem.

The original decals i removed to try reproduce for when its finished.

I will post a few more pics as its progressing,
thanks for the help in uploading the pics.

Yep. We've all done something stupid, though. Undercoat looks nice. Looking forward to the finished images.

You'll have to venture out of the Insular Peninsula sometime, muzzie, and join us on a Retro jaunt. I'll bring my Elite, and they can chat. Lookin' very spiffy, BTW. :)

Manufactured by Leisure Cycles Australia, Regency Park SA.
Can anyone tell me the approximate age of my trusty steed?

You will need to have a look under the bottom bracket. There should be a stamp on there with the letters L######. That may give a rough guide.

WOW, and I mean WOW , thats just crazy , Ive never seen a frame break like that . Had the bike suffered from any crashes in the past to have weakened it or rust in the head ?
And here was I thinking that with a steel bike this sort of failure is the last thing I have to worry about ! Now off to check my steelies .

from the pic, you can see a bit of corrosion around the lug, so maybe it had a crack for some time and one too many gutter jumps later, it started tearing.
vanbree and his son probably never saw the crack.
