I see the master piu above has the curved fork. This intrigues me because I thought it was only the earlier masters that had the curved forks ? But those decals / paint looks more recent ?
Any one shed light on this ?

Yeah, weird huh? I had many moments of sheer panic while it was in transit that I was getting ripped off and was buying a fake. However, on arrival it looks plenty real. All the right pantos in the right places.
The paint job screams 1990's right? But when did they introduced the straight blade fork?

From what I can see, by 1994 the only Master produced was the Master Olympic with straight blade fork. The Master Piu was in circulation by 1998, but was perhaps discontinued prior to 94?
(I seem to remember Masters with straight forks in the very early 90's, but I might be wrong)
In 94 they still made a round tubed Super Piu model which also had a curved fork.
By 94 they were definitely doing the mask & fade paint jobs like this frame.
By 94 they had stopped pantographing the "colnago" name in the tops of the seat stays and gone (back?) to the panto "club" design.

So, it's clearly after 88 (and due to the paint job and bold decal on the top tube, I'm guessing after 1990), but prior to 94.

Lastly, it only has one set of bidon bosses on the DT, nothing on the ST. I have read that indicates 89 or earlier.

If anyone knows of any catalogue scans from 89 - 93, any info would be appreciated.

Well, this is how she looks in phase 1.
It has some bare patches where the paint is damaged so I will get it re-painted in a more classic 80s theme at some point,

I wasn't having a go. Just sayin. I quite like the look of the bike.

Yeah, taller seat posts & longer stems started coming into fashion around 1988, so there was a bit of crossover. Last of the classic steelies and the more modern geometry fashions.
But mostly it's because I have long legs and a short torso. A 58 top tube with a 120 stem is preferable to a 60cm top tube with a 100 stem, even though I could ride the 60cm seat tube easy. Late 80s - square frames.

Cage - yep, it's the elite cuissi. Best cage ever.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The photos muck up the colours a bit, but the saddle and bare tape are a better match than they appear.

Vaeske: Yep, that's my retro look modern group. Grande Comp brakelevers paired with 7700 calipers. 7700 derailleurs, 7400 cranks, 7800 shifters, 10s chain & cassette, 7400 hubs. Everything in polished allu. No anodising!
Looking to build a set of anodised box section tubs onto another set of 7400 hubs for it.

The Ultegra seat post is a temporary measure too. Hope to replace with a 7400 era post, but not sure I'll find one long enough. I can't remember what lengths they made.
Once I do the 80 re-paint, it will get white tape & a white rolls saddle.

The the fluted and aero 7400 posts only have a useful length of 140mm. Measured from the minimum insertion to centre of the rail clamps. The plainer looking Dura-ace 7410 has a useful length around 200mm.
