Giant 27.5
Postby christophers94 » Fri May 31, 2013 6:59 pm
Has anyone checked them out? I believe they have only released the wheel size in there cheaper Talon range, i wonder if this means a performance range realease soon .
I couldnt find them on the aus site but the american site has them, and so did my Local bike shop.

The colours are a bit different for the Australian models, but they look good!

Anthem and Trance are confirmed. Spoke to the guys at MC Cycles (Giant concept store) in Syd CBD last month about organising a test ride on a 29er, and this news was mentioned.silentbutdeadly wrote:Recreational range gets first release every year hence the Boulder and Talon. Performance range comes out in August. Expect an Anthem and perhaps Reign variant...

I wonder if the pioneers of 29ers - Trek / Gary Fisher - are going to go 27.5?
And Specialized??

That stem seems pretty long, but.

Agree with the long stem opinion. Perhaps a bit high too given the really long head tube on this frame.
And the chain looks too short even with it being on the big ring...did you size it so that it wraps front to back rings plus four complete links?

The stem is a 110 but it is an XL frame, it doesn't feel too bad but I've grabbed a 100mm stem to try.
As far as the 27.5 wheel size, it goes all right but anything would compared to what I was riding, I guess only time will tell if it's the real deal, maybe not on cross country bikes but downhill and all mountain.
As far as the chain length goes I made it really short as I was running it with a 1x10 so I wanted it to have plenty of tension, however now I have put the triple rings back on and a longer chain, more versatile.
I'm just excited I have a new bike, looking forward to the performance range release, looking at a trance or possibly an anthem, great looking bikes, both fun to ride.
I will be riding it at the Gippsland Mountain bike clubs 4 hour race at the Colquhoun forest on the 23rd of this month, which is a dedicated purpose built MTB circuit consisting of nearly %100 single track, only about 400m is not single track, but is a bike path.
