FamilyGuy nice ride mate.
Cheers!

Yeah i've ridden down that way on the roadie before up through! Some nice riding out there, but you certainly need to pic your times/days with either local / school holidays or leavers (the worst) traffic.

Just wanted to take something different this time!

Thanks.

The Planet X bikes are good looking rides. There's a black one works next door to me too. If I ever get really serious about fixed, that'll be high on the list. But then, like roadies, there'll be more than one....

I guess i see all those people on pink and green rieds on sydney rd / royal pde and just wanted to be part of the bunch without the pink and green! And the wheels although heavy where far cheaper than the mavics on the shogun. Anyway im fat and old and need the strength training.

That's the attitude :) Those bad boys will definitely make you stronger. At the end of the day its your own two wheeled beastie, if you like it and it does what you need it to do its exactly the right bike for you. Enjoy it.

Looks great mate :)

I assume you just fitted the rear brake lever for symmetry or do you plan to throw a caliper on the rear at some stage ?

I like riding on the hoods so its just a dummy for that. I have done a weeks commuting and I don't think I'll need the rear brake. The only time I miss it is braking down a hill and wanting to indicate right at the same time. But a bit of forward planning and a little resisting on the fixed gear helps there.

Nice work, I am all for symmetry. When I get mine on the road in a couple of weeks I think I will be running with my freewheel for a while before I build up the courage to jump to fixed for commuting.

This whole bike is original except for the new spokes, seat post, chain and tyres (27x1inch hard to find)..
Frame is a 54 Healing track frame
Rims are original made in italy alloy
Hubs are English bayliss wylie track hubs
Headset and BB are bayliss wylie
Crank is Williams dated 54
Stem is Cinelli
Bars are original
Seat is not the original that came with the bike but is a period Brook racing saddle from the 50/60's

first photo is taken when I bought it...

Lucky it's not yours then, innit? It gives me the warm fuzzies knowing I can stop much sooner, given my environs. I had a road 1" threaded with brake hole from a 61cm frame, but it was too short. This is definitely a fit for purpose (however indelicate) solution.

Because they look terrible.

The other advantage with the different fork is that it would be a lot more comfortable on the road and will cope better with potholes etc.

Unfortunately the original headset is stuffed, and I need a really low stack height model to replace it. This fork came up for $10 on Fixed, so I couldn't go past it.

Done your first down hill without brakes yet? That's always an eye-opener.
