What was unusual about this one?
They were taking a survey on physical activity.
I don't do any, except cycle
They were a bit shocked when I gave them the total ride time.

I don't think so because I interoggated them about where they got my number from. They claim it was from a computer. I said "Typical Windows" why is it always giving out my phone number?europa wrote:Maybe it was a poll on insanity
I'm going to have to take legal action if it's always doing that.

I get the door to door salesmen in the store. I've got to the point of being down right rude to them.
One wouldn't take no for an answer and one of my casuals was in the store and asked him to leave, twice. I almost thought a fight was going to break out. My casual would have won, he represented Queensland at karate.
Had a one guy with two trainee girls. He sent the girls in. No luck.
He came back in with the girls to 'show them how it's done'. No luck, I was ruder to him. I knocked him down a peg to two in front of his 'girl friends'. He stormed out of the store swearing and slamming the door behind him.
I cut another notch in the counter.

I get them knocking on my door. I have a big sign out on the front verandah stating "No" door to door salesman and a million other things except deliveries.tuco wrote:I get the door to door salesmen in the store.
The ones that are stupid enough to knock, run once the 90 kg rottweiler attempts to rip the front door off of it's hinges when I open the door

He went "well Donald we have this"
I cut him off saying "first up my name is not Donald it is Mr _______" I think I then hung up after him continuing for another line or two. I may have been born in 1985 but manners are, first name are for friends, not for potential clients.
Grrrrrrrrrr manners are just curtiousy

Too true Donald, (if I may be so bold)beauyboy wrote:Grrrrrrrrrr manners are just curtiousy
If you give them a serve, do you get the formulaic, whiny response used by all people who want to interfere in or lives in some way?
Dunno 'bout all of you here, but everytime I hear it, the personal "Good Karma" score drops ito the negative, just by my thoughtsI'm only doing my job...

-sell them stuff and see how they feel
-ask them for thier home phone number so I can ring them later
-talk slow rubbish untill they get tired and end the call.
if they get really bad Telsra can run a "trace" on your line where after each call you dial a special number compination and they log / review who is calling and send "warning" letters to the companies asking them to stop (only if they are Australian companies that is). They have no power over international Telemarketers.
The best cure for these guys is prevention. DONT GIVE YOUR HOME PHONE NUMBER TO MARKETING COMPANIES. (they will still get it off online yellow/white pages).
If you they get really bad (two to three calls a day) you will have to change your home number. Telsra will do this for free.

You are providing personal information that in a lot of cases will be sold on to telemarketers and the like. These databases then get sold onto various companies around the country who are interested in potential clients who have already been "flagged" as a person more likely to take advantage of a special/deal/offer.

I upset one of my friends by 'chatting up' the girl on the end of the Domino's phone last week - in response to "Sorry for keeping you waiting, my name's Lucy, how can I help you?" I said "Oooh, Lucy, that's a nice name. Are you young and pretty?" By which time my mate was ready to disown me! He was even more surprised when Lucy's response was: "Hi! Can I come over to your place after work ...."pospete wrote: ... it's always (spelling corrected) a good idea to chat them up ...
Then she had to ruin it by saying "Will Merry be there, because there's some homework that we need to finish". Yeah, she's my daughter's best friend - but it got my mate going!
ps. I surprised the guy behind me at the newsagent at lunchtime today too, when I said to the girl behind the counter: "My place or your place tonight?" She is my son's girlfriend!

Thats why you should immeaditely hang up without saying anything. How long you are on the phone is an indication of your potential to provide them a sale.Imanewbie wrote:Ever fill in your name and address on a coupon or voucher for a special deal?

Not yet, but apparently someone on the motorbike forum knows something. I got the picture out of a motorbike magazine in the late 80's and kept it until I had a scanner.Bnej wrote:You got a story to go with that?mikesbytes wrote:Mabyee they want to sell you something useless like this baby;
See the road sign. What country do you recon has a street with that sort of name?
