Done. I just managed to hit the 6k mark last year but I've already done last years total in 5 months. If I keep it up I'll have to bump it up to 20k :P

Nice work Team Brisbane, looks like we might get a winter this year?

I'll take cold over wet. And nice one Dimma on getting your 1k badge for the month with over a week to go.

I totally agree JC, both my bike and I don't enjoy wet roads.
This month has been a bit of a write off, too much other stuff going down, only got out 14 times

My bike and I love wet roads. Its those wooden bridges along the Kedron Brook Bikeway, the new distance markers and the the blind people awareness dots on the pathway at the Roma Street Parklands that we don't like

you should try those awareness dots with a squared rear tyre in the wet...not good.

Still doing huge k's in most of your 14 rides!

Had wet, cold and a gusty wind this afternoon, thought that I'd been transported back to Adelaide for a minute

Did a quick 173km with 3600m of climbing today and when doing the Mt Glorious descent I came across a few signs saying "Traffic Hazard Ahead". Ended up coming across this at the hairpin. There was hardly any visible skid marks so who ever hit it must have lost their brakes very early on. For those not from the area this is about 1.5km into the 2km downhill run where you lose about 200-300m of elevation very very quickly.

I hit 8000 commuting k's on the ride home yesterday, just under 9000 for the year, will go past that next week.

Have given the riding a real good go this year and am surprising myself at how many k's I am doing. Slowly dropping the weight as well. Started the year around the 97 mark and am hoping to get close to 90 by the end of the year, have hit 93 on the scales already, but depending on how much bread/wine/pasta I consume that figure can go close to 96.

If I keep up this effort, I may just get my year goal by August. Am struggling with early morning motivation at the moment however

I passed 5000 this week. Not too bad considering a few seriously slender weeks... might only get 200 this week including the bunch on Saturday.

Put in an epic 80-90km this week after 700km the other week. Busted my chain on the roadie the other week going up Clear Mountain and limped around on it for another week and a bit until I could get a new chain but then it kept dropping gears this week with a cool .9 degree of flex (was only .6 ~300km before it went bust the first time) according to my chain checker. On the flatbar I noticed a crack on one of my pedals (just the normal everyday pedals - no spd or anything) from one of the cage bolts so I couldn't ride that until I could pick up some new SPD pedals. The race bike has had issues with the brakes in the rain so when the sun finally made its appearance I thought it would be a good idea to have a clip stack with brand new cleats in the backyard. I kept it up after it started to fall but the seat had now managed to be on the wrong side off the pole and I couldn't get the cleat out so I just slowly fell over still attached to the bike. End result was the frame of the bike slid down one side of the pole with the seat on the other side. It was one of those falls where you feel like there was plenty of time to get off and make a roast before you finally hit the ground.

It seems to mostly be cosmetic with the clear surface coating being damaged but I'll find out next week what the real damage is. Its not the 80-90kph speeds or the 45kph in 20kph hairpins that gets me. It always the walking pace incidents in the front or back yard  Not a good week to say the least but walking around with a box full of new bike parts and goodies sort of made up for that today :|

Oh, I was kicking myself after. I remember reading something in the warranty that scratching the frame/damage to decals falls under the 1 year category or something. Knowing my luck it probably mentions relating to workmanship :P

Finally jumped back on a bike to cross the 7.5km mark and it was certainly a very eventful ride. Heading towards Nundah there was a 3-4 car prang on the Virgina station overpass, got about 100m up the road and there was a cyclist on the ground with people running from their cars so I doubled back to see if I could offer any assistance (he was responsive but it looked like he had a broken/fractured leg at the minimum. There was a nurse there which was very good. The chain rings were split in half which gives an idea how hard he hit the side of the trailer). After the area was secured we started to get the traffic moving so any emergency vehicles could be able to get there by traveling down the bikelane/shoulder and that's when we all noticed that a driver in the traffic had fainted at the wheel. After the police and ambos arrived I left so they could do their job and about a couple hundred metres up the road I got the old overtake you, put the blinkers on and then not turn/come to a complete stop in the middle of the road - even after waving at the silly woman to go she wouldn't turn. Finally got off the road and then enjoyed the rest of my ride along the Kedron Brook bikeway to Nudgee Beach and back.

Ouch, that don't sound good at all, hope that the rider will be ok, even if the bike may not be!

Was this heading in or out-bound?

It looked alot worse than others I've come across but it was good to see that he was responsive. Both crashes were on the Northbound run along Sandgate Road through Virginia. The 4 car prang was the normal peak hour bumper to bumper prang and the bike crash was a result of someone heading southbound towards the city cutting across the northbound traffic to enter Prince Street hitting the cyclist going down the hill heading northbound.

Sounds like it might be a fellow BNA member, if it is then he's ok, but bloody lucky!

Yeah, took me a couple of weeks to recover from BotB, mentally as well as physically :|

Still a long way from reeling you in

^^^^ Riding some more kms ;)

I hit 5000 a week ago. Seem to be doing a LOT less riding than expected, between visits to Steve Hogg and misguided attempts at recovery weeks... I think I just need to ride around with the 34 ring and call it recovery lol
