Poll: 2013 Tour de France "Winner"

* In light of recent events, the glory will be given to the person or persons who correctly predicts who will wear the maillot jaune in Paris, regardless of whether it is subsequently ripped from their shoulders in disgrace

The french steak isn't as good as that spanish one prepared by the Astana chefs ....toolonglegs wrote:He looked really bad today in the TT ... obviously wasn't much power to be found in the legs.
Alergies.....
Maybe that's why Nibbles did so well at the Giro - the Astana chefs !!!

I'd love to say Cadel, but I'm not hopeful. Still he's a tough nut and you never know what can happen as long as his health stays good and the Giro hasn't smashed him. Beyond that - roll the dice.

Very interested to see how Rogers goes helping out Albeefo.
Can't see anyone else winning outside of the usual suspects... Maybe Van Garderen as a slight roughie, with Cadel's assistance. I don't think Cadel will be able to back up after the Giro.
Valverde looks in pretty good knick too.

Wonder how much Contador has left to improve in the few weeks remaining. He has proven he can last a 3 week GT having won all 3

For weeks/months the lead up has been awesome ... only 4 weeks ago there seemed to be so many options - the whole Froome vs Wiggo affair at Sky has now been concluded with Wiggo pulling out, and the Evans vs TeJay VG was there until Evans proved he still had some class in the Giro..(althogh TJ is young, he appears to be on form at the moment too)
Now that a lot of the internal team stuff has settled down I feel its gonna be a battle of Evans vs Froome vs Contador......(with an outside chance the BMC will keep TeJay close to the GC leaders in case Evans has some issues at some point - illness, mechnical, or performance)
Looking at Froome's form its gotta be hard to go past him as the likely GC contender - his been in the TdF a few years now, he's got a few good wins under the belt, is on good form and has a good team behind him (a team that got Wiggo over the line last year...)
BUT, based on Giro performance, it could be that Evans is on the right path to peak during the Tour. And hopefully the TdF this year won't suit Team Sky as much as last year - it was boring as bat poo watching Sky pretty much dominate from start to finish last July.
Either way, it looks like it could be an interesting year ....
Realistically I reckon Froome is heading in the right direction - but I'm really hoping that Cadel peaks at the right time.

Yeah, but I wonder whether Froome has gone too hard too early...jamesn184 wrote:The stage last night was a real good indicator on form.. froomie just flew past alberto
There are still a lot of cycling days to come before the big days of the Tour, and I wonder whether Froome can maintain the form .... He can't keep going flat out forever....
Meanwhile, Evans has got a good few weeks of rest/recovery/preparation post Giro.
It's going to all be about who peaks at the right time....

Riding against the wind was seddo whose pick managed to make the podium. No love at all for 2nd place Quintana - although that will probably change next year.
