It's not a bike, but it is junk at it's price is on the rise! Good reading for a giggle.

Why on earth anybody would spend that much money on a car, especially one like that, is beyond me. Dropping $3,000 on the 'be all end all' dream bicycle doesn't seem quite so ridiculous anymore. Hell, you couldn't even buy a late 90s Holden Barina for $3,000, let alone runnings costs. Ah hell I'll do it. Thanks im no pro Solved my dilemma.
*edit* That has to be some kind of joke...Or fake listing...$155,000 pounds? Surely it was not even that expensive when new? I'm not much of a car buff but I know a 'buyer beware' when I see one

so you can get as close as possible to the Motor pacer....

The fork increases the bikes trail. Making for a more stable bike at 80km/hr. Stayers have a very steep head angles and small front wheels which reduces the bikes trail making them very twitchy at high speed. The reverse fork counteracts this.

While we're improving our stayer knowledge, whats the reason for the turnbuckle on the saddle? I'm guessing adjustment but...

The saddle is forward but the strut on the seat AND the handlebars is purely for safety. The G forces when you are doing 100kph behind a big motor are incredible. A snapped seatpost or bars means almost certain death. Stayer racing is the most dangerous form of cycling and the list of stayers who never saw their 25th birthday is scary. A puncture, an equipment failure or a crash can be catastrophic. My uncle was actually one of the best derny paced riders in the world in the 1950s and he told me he could have won a world title if he had the balls to ride the big motors. After a few close calls he refused to do it. Even just leaving the slipstream of your pacer would actually throw the bike up the banking towards the barrier at 100kph ... stayer riders are nuts.
So, yeah, just extra bracing and support.

That's interesting! There was a burst of interest in 4 ring set ups for touring in the mid-late 70's in Europe and USA when we only had 5 or 6 speed freewheels. Mainly using TA or Japaneses TA clone cranksets IRRC.
Also mainly by gear freaks who spent their lives playing with gear tables to prevent ratio duplication and designing gear shift patterns
The rest of us just used triples or wide range doubles and actually went touring...

But it's got a custom saddle and bar tape and led valve lights. That would add a lot of value.
