Here's another one from the hard rubbish, found the frame with running gear minus wheels.

Had a bit of a score a week or so ago on the Council Clean up.
A Soren son Reynolds 731 frame with 531 forks Weighs in at 2.6kg
Image
A heap of track wheels tublulars and clinchers with Suntour Superbe pro and campag record hubs to name a few
Image
and best of all a Kerry Hopkins track bike which weighs in at 7.4kg without a front tyre. This bike was owned by Kris Denham and from the little research I have done, appears to have raced for Australia. I cant believe what people throw out.

Hard Rubbish/Flea market finds

This thread should be banned. Or, at the very least, a requirement to add your LGA alongside the score be added (safe to say BCC and MBRC won't appear very often).

So much goodness.... :(

NO WAY  . You mean all that was actually all in a pile on the side of the road?! Unbelievable.

That's it...my brother in law in Taree is getting orders to drive around picking up stuff next time, whether he likes it or not!!! The nephews can make a game of it!

Yes it was picked up from the side of the road. I was out having a lunch time ride scoping the junk and this is what I found on one pile. I imagine it was quite funny to see a lycra clad roadie riding down the main street of town carrying a bike and a frame over his shoulder- I had dollar signs in my eyes and I werent leaving it there in case someone else picked it up before I could get back.
I am probably not suppose to be spruiking for a sale in this section but there isnt a velodrome within 150km of me so I will be looking at moving this stuff on. Better photos coming soon in the 4 sale section

Good to see you rescued it. By coincidence I was recently given Kris Denham's road TT bike, which I was going to post up shortly. This is also purple (Kris obviously liked purple) and has a "Custom Paint by Kerry Hopkins" sticker. I think it's actually a Geoff Scott/Clamont, repainted by Hopkins. It came with a bodgy wheelset including a Superbe Pro track front wheel.

Cool I would like to see the TT bike photos. Did he put his initials on those wheels as well. I have 4 of the superbe pro back wheels and only one front.

I'll post some images soon.

Curiously the front wheel has a Blackman engraving (Blackman Cycles, Parramatta I guess) with Denham in texta on the rim. The TT bike chainring has his name engraved on it, must have been a big lot of bike thieves about?

PM me if you want to do a swap for road wheels. Be nice to re-unite the TT bike with the correct wheels.

You sure it was council pick-up junk? Maybe someone was moving house and was backing the trailer out, or something? [INSERT SICK-WITH-JEALOUSY EMOTICON HERE]

Here in Syd I once saw a few BSO's last literally less than a minute after being left outside -- there were a couple of parolees stalking the street and one of them thought he'd won the lottery by beating the other guy. :?

Black Head should prepare itself for a sudden influx of cyclists.

One of the back wheels had Blackman written in texta on the rim. It came off when I wiped it though which didnt expect.
I think the campag record hubbed wheel was QR. What road wheels have you got?

Sometimes I hate living in Canberra...
We dont have kerbside collection like everywhere else. We donate bikes to the 2 contracted govermment recyclers , who then turn around and ask $80+ for them...

Ive been lucky with cheap finds lately, so I really shouldnt whinge
Great score !
When in doubt......mumble.
