Tooth ache...

Postby toolonglegs » Sun Jun 23, 2013 4:00 pm

All my good planning is going up the pooper!. Had a tooth ache 2 or 3 weeks ago so quickly saw the dentist, didn't want a problem while away at the TDF. He x-rayed it and said nothing was wrong... Put some stuff on it around the gums for sensitivity. It calmed down a bit but then on Thursday came back with a vengeance!. I either need a root canal as it is super cold sensitive or I have an abscess... Trying to get into see an emergency dentist this morning.
I am going to south of France tomorrow and was hoping to whip up Ventoux on the way! :-(

They wouldn't take it out if it is infected... Hoping a quick root canal fixes it!... I hate antibiotics.

Not here mate... Had a root canal on the other side about two months ago... About 150 euros which was all reimbursed as well. French medical system is top notch!.

A vegan diet, hatha yoga and chiropractic will prevent any recurrence.

Sorry mate but if you got a nice big cavity in between 2 teeth that only x-rays will show up then that sucker eventually is going to rot out one or both teeth and there is nothing you can do about it other than standard dental industry 'rip em out or fill em up'. No diet, yoga or chiropractic action will reverse a hole in a tooth that is big enough to be causing pain.

Root canal is the most profitable dental procedure. Thats why its the most pushed.
Vegan since 2001.

already vegan, different type of yoga and last chiro I saw was pretty useless :-p .
If the job is done right it can't recur because the tooth is dead.
My normal dentist freaked when he looked up dental prices in oz after I mentioned the difference.
Bit sore this morning around the tooth but it's a pretty rough procedure so no surprise there. The weather isn't great outside... Not sure what it will be like 200ks to the south, strong winds forecast... Will make a quick detour up Ventoux more interesting!. Then off to Corsica :-) ... So relieved to get this done yesterday!.
Ps... Dentist said I should wear a mouth guard when riding solo as I am a grinder during efforts!

You could wear it when racing also. Give a manic grin showing off the mouth guard to psyche out your competitors. :)

Make sure you have a custom one with shark's teeth printed onto the mouthguard so when you smile you'll look like Jaws.

That was what I had in mind. :D
That or just the top teeth being shark tooth like (jagged) with black for the rest of the guard to emphasise the sharpness of his teeth. Maybe add in a bit of red in the right spots on the guard for extra bloody effect.
