Big increases in London commuting

Postby mikesbytes » Wed Jun 26, 2013 10:45 am

Clearly London is doing something right, they are now reporting that 25% of road users are bicycles

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/m ... 71069.html

From the 4 photos in the gallery, I notice two things;
1. Only one rider without a helmet
2. Not that many female riders
If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

3. Even the bus taking up all that space is mostly empty

Ahem! It's "chavs" ;)

But it's good to see them having their backsides handed to them by the pro-cycling commenters.

With participation rates like that it's only a matter of time before the "I hate bicycles" tribe dies out.

Seriously, 25%!? When there are other places hoping to get to 5% that is absolutely extraordinary.

"the Mayor has budgeted £913 million for cycling schemes" - That is > AU$1.5 billion :shock:

We'd be lucky to even get 5% of that spent of cycling infrastructure across our entire country...

when you live in London, driving a car isn't really an option. It might also help that Boris is a big cycling fan himself http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... ycling-fun
