Hi Guys,
I ride an Avanti Explorer 8C - Hybrid with Nexus 8 speed IGH and it has a semi-horizontal dropout
I ride about 18k a day, 5 days a week, and I had only recently replaced the chain 3 months back at velocycles with generic chain. Now the chain has slack so much that it sometimes throw off.
I told my housemate who rides a fixie my problem and he had my rear wheel pulled back and now the chain have the right tension.
So is my problem fixed? I'm kindna worried that one bloody fine day the chain would just snap if it's already worn-out.
Is this a problem with the chain or the dropout? I have ordered a new chain just in case. And do I really need to install a chain tensioner as well?

You shouldn't need for a chain tensioner.
A couple of possible causes:
a) the crank bolts weren't done up tightly
b) the cheap generic chain wore out quickly
c) your sprockets are worn and this accelerated the wear of the chain.
Get a chain gauge (or a ruler) and check if it is worn. Also, grab the chain at the front of the chain ring and pull - can it lift up off the teeth much?
I do about the same mileage on mine (Avanti Blade and got about 2 years from my last (generic) chain.
