I've just bought a used (8 months old) Trek Madone 4.5.
It has 105 groupset except for the cassette (tiagra).
My other bike is Scott speedster with tiagra groupset.
The Scott has 9 speed cassette while the Trek is 10 speed.
I've trying to adjust the derailleurs on the new bike.
I can't get the front derraileur not to touch the chain.
The adjustment screws don't seem to move much at all.
When I compare both bikes scott with tiagra has a wider front derraileur. I never have to adjust it in 3 years.
I olny adjusted the rear derrailleur once.
I also noticed the tiagra front derraileur is more solid while the 105 looks flimsy with thinner material.
I can change to any gears front and rear on the Scott and it won't touch the chain.
Not the case with the Trek.
Advise please?

Sounds more like a trim issue than anything.
You should be able to find what you need in the first four hits HERE.

...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Thanks for the link.
I'll have a good read.
Hopefully, like you said, it's a trim issue.
