Bont Shoes
Postby Wakatuki » Fri Jan 04, 2013 3:51 pm
Bont A3 with Buckle or A2, depending on the price of A2's. So Probably A3'!
Any feedback on these? Based on the tech and the price I think they give Shimano 106's a good run for their money.
Now I can pair these with either Look or Spd-sl as I need pedals too.
Running Shimano 105 at the moment.
Suggestions/ Thoughts?
P.S. When purchased I'm off to the bike fitter!

Mind you ebay does seem to think bont is "boat"...
Just make sure your 2nd toe ain't longer than your 1st you may run into sizing problems.

As far as I can tell they are identical to the A3 which get a glowing review here.

Would have loved Vaypors but wasn't prepared to spend $350+ on shoes.
Some good prices here on higher end models.

Edit, don't get a full strap shoe either, you will never get them super tight.

Would CTT-3 or Vaypor be the weapon of choice?

Quote from the road.cc review of the A3 which has a fiberglass sole.MarkG wrote:One is a resin and fiberglass sole and one is carbon fiber.
"The A-Threes feature among the stiffest soles out there even though it only made from lowly fibreglass. The support and stability the shoes provide when really cranking is also exemplary"

Myself I had to go up one size from Specialized when I purchased Bont A1s.

Did not realise it was $300 but eBay can sometimes close the gap considerably. Vaypor seem to be the "it" shoe because it has carbon. But can't find much on CTT in comparison.antipodean wrote:You realise there is a $300 price difference here?Wakatuki wrote:Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Mark. I sent them an enquiry form to ask about the Black version as I have white Sidis and would like a different colour, more durable too.MarkG wrote:$430 is the price I received from Bont

Keen to hear more on your Riots, my A3's need replacing (the heel has worn through) and was thinking of getting the Riots, I actually think they are one of the better looking of their line.Jesmol wrote:Just tried my Bont Riot's , thanks to Merlin cycles. Holy crap they are stiff. Coming from Specialized Elites - Bontranger Road to these is quite a difference.
