Still hung up over the Cav manouvre which reminded me of the Renshaw incident and repurcussions. It wasn't very sporting from Cav and I am surprised that there was no reaction, then again when Renshaw was expelled there were two (I believe) Spanish riders who had a punch up that was forgotten as well.

In any case, a bit of humanity and apology would have been fair.

Well if that's true then that's really, really sad.
I personally think the guy acts like a bloody idiot and does himself no favours, especially with his public personna with the press (and for many, that IS Cavendish)
But to throw urine??? Some people really are disgusting.

There's a yellow jersey joke in there somewhere.

Maybe he should go back to the track[evolution] and six day races where the crowds love him.

Surely that's the tour over now. Big time gap.
Yellow and green both sewn up.

Probably. but then again hopefully Puerto and Quintana and the like can help the other GC boys crack Froome, Quintana looked pretty bloody good up that HC on stage 9

With nothing to lose, I'd like to see the GC riders just keep attacking. We haven't even reached the mountains yet and you're calling it. Only one way to test Froome, and that is to attack and make him respond. It is so boring watching everyone just cruise the course with the yellow jersey at the front. The peloton should make him earn it every day.

Well, as someone said, if you win (almost) the ITT, win the mountains, Tour is your taking. Mountain is about power to weight ratio and who has the power (no change in weight) to upset that time gap? No one close as demonstrated in the ITT. Unless bad luck sets in for Froome... But that's not how we like to see how Yellow is selected.

Le Tour is already over after Froome-Dawg went full retard in one mountain stage (3rd fastest climb ever and faster than Armstrong in 2003) and one ITT (just 12-sec slower than Martin who in the post stage interview wondered how Froome could be so quick). Nothing to see here folks, move on. :roll:

Perhaps the spectator will be found and get the same treatment. That's utterly disgusting and uncalled for. :roll:

Good that the tour is over now (unless something unthinkable happens to Froome), I can catch up on sleep. :wink:

Yes it was a great effort by Sagan in the ITT.
He has shown ability in the mountains, last year and overall ability in all aspects
of the Tour, a young guy with a big future.

A pisstake was made in the decision of the Officials regarding Cavendish
and the fans seems to be airing their displeasure. But "ones" is not warranted. :o

I was looking at the Green jersey points classifications and saw some riders have negative points. Are these penalties or something?

Some riders actually have negative points.
This arises because the organisers impose penalties for various infractions in a number of ways.
The most common is a fine of so many Swiss Francs.
A harsher penalty is to deduct time from the rider's GC time, or deduct points from their points tally.
If the rider has been particularly naughty, they will be disqualified from the race.
Riders can be penalised in a lot of ways,
e.g. hanging onto a team car, or taking too many "bottles" from the director sportif;
answering the call of nature in front of the public (when you gotta go, you gotta go);
causing another rider to crash, or otherwise riding dangerously in the bunch;
hitching a ride to the finish in the Tour director, Christian Prudhomme's car;
giving spectators the evil eye, and so on.
... and sometimes you just get splashed with urine. :P

Got it in one - eg Lars Bak and José Serpa lost 5 points (+ a fine of 50 Swiss Francs & a 10-second penalty) for getting illegal tows from their team cars during stage 7. As they haven't earned any points, they now sit on -5

Well I'm Lyon. Hopefully in a couple of days I can start posting some photos from le Tour. On the taxi in from the airport we saw where they are setting up for the finish of stage 14. It's just across the river Rhone not far from our hotel.

Having never travelled before this is a new experience. No way would I attempt to drive in France. It's hard enough getting used to everyone driving on the right side of the road, but it appears that indicating to change lanes is optional, the lanes are much narrower, and cyclists don't appear to follow many rules (more likely I'm just on aware of them). Helmets are optional, my guess are those not wearing helmets are locals and those wearing helmets are tourists.

We had one interesting encounter on the drive in from the airport to Lyon. The airport is situated about 25 miles outside of Lyon, and the route in to Lyon passes through some agricultural areas. Our taxi was fast approaching a slow moving tractor and plough heading in the same direction when the oncoming traffic all moved over to the right without slowing down allowing us the overtake the machinery on the wrong side of the road without slowing down.

I'm really glad that cavendish suffered at least some repercussion from his arrogant selfish act.
He really should have had his face punched in. He's lucky it was only urine and not a stick in his wheel during the TT.

Thumped one of the Argos Shimano riders with his shoulder and knocked him off his bike. Totally unnecessary.

The flying piss is completely a step too far. You can be sure that whatever emotions are present in the peleton, they will be amplified and regurgitated by some of the spectators. Pretty unfortunate at the amount of clowns on the road but I guess that's always been the Tour. The naked guys, booing and the mooning is fine, but they shouldn't interfere with the riders because it's a race they're trying to win, not a social calender. This is sort of why I like watching the Giro more.

Lots of suggestions for a punch up. Do these suggest the standard of the cycling community or do they reflect just on the spectator cohort?
