Hmmm, no clues as to who made them. The MTB there seems about '90 vintage. What is the date on the mag?

i don't see much retro in this thread. shiny alloy maketh not a retro ride.
however, i do see a very nice looking build about to take place. just flick that threadless cockpit. surely you can sell them online and find a decent cinelli cockpit for about the same money. ;)

Fair comment munga, thanks.

Shifters arrive today, they look better than I expected.

Here is how she looks:

Notes:
1. I still need to figure out how to insert the seatpost as it seems to be so tight.
2. Quill looks fugly, I need a 100mm quill stem with matching handlebar, sigh!

I need help, please can someone tell me if I need to cut the steerer or I can buy a spacer? I prefer a spacer as I do not want to cut the steerer.

The washers will stop your levers from travelling to far forward, they are stops. You should be able to get 1'' spacers. I may have a few here for you

BTW...it looks sick!

Regarding the seatpost, just hit it hard with a 28oz hammer....then it should fit.
It will also end up with a retro look....or sell it to me.

invest in some digital measuring vernier calipers and just double check the post diameter..aldi sell them for $25. :D
When in doubt......mumble.

Nope again - not a bad idea at all.

BTW - lots of shight and briney retro-looking bits at Velo-Orange.

I've never managed to find a quill adaptor that suits threaded headsets. They just seem to look strange with the thinner headtubes.

But yeah, get some spacers and see how it goes.

It's looking great man.

I picked up my first titanium bike last week and I'm seriously in love with the thing. Such a nice ride!
Mine has a 1" head tube too. But with an older threadless headset and stem, which I'm enjoying. This is probably heresy in the retro forum, but I'm a fan of the threadless stem. Really stiff and responsive.

Hi dubrat, it is all good now. I managed to insert the 27.2 seat post with the help of sandpaper as I need to make sure I can easily remove it if I want to.

Test ride to work is full of joy this morning
Here is what it looks like now:

Great jacob_T. I did a test ride to work this morning and really a joy to ride bike.
And regarding the quill and threadless stems... this is a never ending argument, lol. If we all like the same thing, I guess we will all be fighting to mary the same woman,

no worries but just make sure you head to your lbs and grab some Ti specific grease... The whole diameter should be covered in grease for installation

Also for the stem I would be looking for a Ibis or Litespeed Ti quill stem... would look awesome
