I've had an X5 drive over the roundabout rather than sit and wait behind me in the lane I've taken.

I don't have a problem with BMW drivers. For me its guys driving those little 4-6 tonne trucks. They think they are big, hairy armpit truckers but drive like they are in their HSV utes (okay, their imaginary HSV utes) and the end result is they are just plain dangerous.
Couldn't drive a greased pencil up their own dates.

I don't have any problems with BMWs or any other prestige cars, it is Commodores, in particular Commodore utes that are the problem. Closely followed by Toyota Hilux utes and then just tradies in general.

Buses are next on the list. They are never around when you are waiting at the bustop to catch one but when you are riding around they seem to be everywhere.

Also couriers in bongovans can be pretty bad. "White van men" as the poms call them.

From my experience both in the car and on the bike, crumbledores are the worst by a long way (though there are obviously a lot more of them than anything else so percentage wise maybe not).

The question is not whether driving a BMW or anything else makes you a moron motorist, but rather why moron motorists choose to drive BMWs, camry's etc. While we all like to stereotype people into nice little pigeon holes, there is nothing about the car itself that causes dangerous driving

Correct, Bruce, but don't spoil the fun. Fact is, most Australian drivers are so bad they would not last 10 minutes if taken out of their own environment. Have a look at an Aussie in a renter Golf who has no idea how German autobahnen work. That is just plain scary.

I think the marketing of the average German brand in Australia is so replete with the self entitlement message that its all a self-reinforcing circle, and I don't think you can completely separate the car in the metal from the way its marketed.

Maybe there are things about the designs which attract morons, ergo, the car does actually cause dangerous driving?

As a regular rider in Perth's western suburbs I can related to this blog post ... I have two areas on my commute that bother me most ... one is Mullaloo and north and the other is the western suburbs. Two extremes ... two scary areas to ride in.
