Even if it were dry and I go all out, I dont reackon I can break 40km/h.

Bro is back, and looks like the fall wasnt too serious, but he's got a chipped ulna.So itll be about 2 weeks before cast is off. And the weird thing is, it happened right after seeing Rheicel and Clair off on that overpass thing.

Awww, give Minh my best wishes, poor thing. Rheical and I must have just missed it happening.

I can't believe you could get through those bends at 45km either. That's nuts! I suppose I know now why I don't race!

Glad he got that checked out, Quang. Wish him well from us. ...bugger!.. as they said in the Toyota ads.
BTW, do you think he'd over-inflated those tyres? The rear one popping while you wheeled it in the driveway kinda gives the game away, I think. :|

130 psi, which is the tyre's max. With him on the bike, surely the pressure would've gone over.

You're prob right though. The hole was on the side of the tube, so it must have blown up and not due to running over glass or whatever. And the tyre itself spun a quarter of the way from where it originally was. One part of the rear bead is broken now, so that tyre is gone.

Out of interest, what brand were they, Quang? I'd left the original IRC Redstorm Classics on the Pegasus, pushing my luck, really. Waking up yesterday morning to find the front one flat is it, really.
I'll be putting on CRX Open Corsas (25mm) when they come in during the week. Should be interesting.
And yes, rhreicel, I'd be looking at changing them. The IRCs had tiny cracks in them. Indeed lucky one didn't blow on a ride.

Vittoria Rubino, which is what I use as well. Prob just under half a year old. He'll be chucking on a new pair of Zaffiros to be safe.

Thanks Paul, mine are brand new-old stock. Buying new one is still cheaper than stitches. Or it is probably safer to just use it on the rear wheel?

Rubber perishes when it sits around, even NOS. Replacement is good idea. I was pushing luck leaving mine on. :|

Hi Minh (Quang), I hope your feeling better real soon.
While the tyre has given out and is now up for replacement I would consider the tube first as it was the failing point from what I can gather, (correct me as required) While the tyre indicates 130psi max, (new condition tyre and tube) was the tube an equivillant for the pressure? Pure race conditions and equiptment, yes, max pressure. Leisure and retro pull back to perspective. Myself, I don't have any tyre over 100psi at any time, and only the best tyres, tubes and rim tape in place will be at this level of pressure. Retro tyres are generally aged and the tubes are likely to be the same so check as you go and keep aware, TO THE MAX is a cautionary so stay on the right side of caution.
See ya back out there soon Minh.

Thats a mad shot of me! Paul and Minh are going so fast, the camera cant get him in focus.

Another update on the stack. The shoes that Minh just got off Andy other week, are destroyed as well. The heel and sole pretty much peeled away from the shoe. Good thing he didnt buy a new pair.

Thisnoticed in an adjacent thread. B*^ger! Looking like a messy diversion through the western bits of Smithfield, once you hit a closed gate at Prospect Res., to hook up with the path again at Chandos.

I know Andy's been doing some legwork on a Picton pedal, but I've mapped a fall-back, just in case. Andy and Quang may be able to verify; there seems to be quite a bit of path heading east along the M5. From there, a loop to another Vietnamese in Marrickville (if anything, better than the Canley Vale one), then back to Punchbowl.
Alterations to route based on experience are welcome. We're talking 2~3 weeks off anyway; plenty of time. Restaurant looks nothing much in pic, but don't be deceived.
Don't forget 3D flyout button on Map.

Having signalled a possible route for the upcoming, if people were thinking of the 24th, I'm out. Struck down by a Winter Lurgy. If it's the following Saturday, 21st, I'll take a raincheck, as the Americanos say.

Lots of debris on M5. Glasses and sharp metals. They sweep the breakdown lane regularly tho. I had a flat tyre there, not from glasses but from loose brake cable strand

I may be able to make it on 24th. 31st definitely out for me - I will be down in the mountains complaining about the lack of snow. Perhaps I should take my bike :D

Can someone clarify. On mapmyride, the M5 path looks like a (shared with pedestrian?) path, which roughly tracks the M5. I take it no-one's talking about the M5 breakdown lane; not high on my list of dream rides. :|

Hi Paul, I am not sure about the shared bike path along M5. I only know M5 breakdown lane.
