best photos i think i've ever seen from a non-cyclist.
Seems an odd thing to pay out $250 after the auction started to service a bike you are only going to sell. This person obviously has no idea of the value of the bike (neither do I though) and spending that amount of money won't get anywhere near that value back.

Hahaha, I like his spirit though.

"Q: Hi, how much did you want to get for this item? did you have a 'buy it now'? is it possible to buy it now out of auction and if so for what price? thank you,
A: Hi, I just have no idea what its worth, so going to let it go to auction and everyone else can work it out for me. Just spent $250 on the service, so rather hoping to get at least $251.... "

Hey, thanks Dan. Yeah that's me as the seller.
Quite happy if people have informed discussion about it, but I'll stay out of it so I don't cross the line of advertising in this thread.
Any questions, please direct through the advertisement. Happy to be open and honest about the bike.
Cheers, FB.

True, considering most have no idea how to put pics on fleabay to best effect. I just can't get excited about TIG-welded aluminium-based frames though, even ones as eye-candy as that. :|
Looks like it'll do OK, though, in the selling stakes. On watch for curiosity.
I noticed one of the TDF front-runners riding a TREK with very similar duck-egg blue frame. Imitation as flattery? Wasn't far off the Bianchi colour in the Pantone® book, I'd say.
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

Trek 2200 vintage CF for only $100. Would get it myself, but running out of space.

Am wondering if your lugged carbonitis is contagious. :lol: They look more interesting every time you point one out. All the other 2200s seem to be TIG-welded Alu, but maybe it's the '94 model :|

Hehe, maybe you should get one :twisted: Next up will prob be my final carbon frame though.

Maybe this will change your mind. The Miyata Century, lovely frame, but crazy price. Anyone have $2000 to spare?

Nice spotting on the Centurion, QV. Another seller with NFI about taking pics. :shrug: Looks like Question Time in Parliament again... Unicrown fork, I assume, but nice bike.
On Watch just to watch the action in 8 days time. :)

Worth it for the groupset at least, even though frame looks too large for me, I am in Port Macquarie this weekend too. I think SWMBO might notice an extra bike on the rack though :D

I certainly don't have 2 grand to spend on it but that Miyata is super smooth. I don't think the price is that overblown, if it was mine I definitely wouldn't want to let it go without getting a fair bit of moolah.

I don't know how they notice stuff like that... :?
And is there really such a thing as a girls/ladies bike, in the case of one like that? I'd have thought not.

Now, this aint just an unknown frame. This is a Mondonico in 58cm, running 6400 brakes and levers. 7400 RD. Possibly Campag Athena cranks, with Look pedals. And Omega V Profile wheels. It may possibly be a Extra Diamond model which uses Columbus Neuron tubing. Someone grab it!

My son just sold off a shedload of audio recording gear, music paraphernalia... He nearly fell off his chair at the fees. See article here for some background. Monopoly is alive and well on the 'net.

Fleaby/LifeHackers

I Paste someone's comment from under the article. Something's gotta give, surely. American's at least have Craiglist, currently.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just letting you all know ebay will not be having all the market to themselves anymore.
There is a new auction site soon being launched in Sydney followed by one in every major
city across Australia, these sites are focused on live and Local and Australian only with no
international sellers.
Users can list for free and sell anything up to $100 for free also, the fees after a $100 sale are very minimal, the sites have online stores for only $5 per week, all these sites will come under
Auction it, Sydney, Melbourne, perth, and so on, I hope people get on board with these site as they are launched, there will also be a site to cover all of Australia, called auctionitaustralia
You can see the Sydney site in test mode now, auctionitsydney.com
The opportunity is there, but others have tried before (and failed), there is a couple at least that come to mind although the names escape me.
Well, glass half full here. :lol: An increase of that magnitude over that time is clearly Gordon Gecko territory. I'm humming the insurrection song from Les Miserables... Once a groundswell is noticeable, things can change pretty quickly. Call me paulyanna if you want.. :)
Another example is social media-linked sites, like this one.
TrueGether
It'll be an interesting space to watch. TBH, those fee increases had crept up on me unnoticed. Probably my own fault as I may have ignored notifications from fleabay as they occurred.
Oztion? Now QuickSales apparently: http://www.quicksales.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
What annoyed me about Oztion (apart from the fact that it had sfa decent stuff listed) was their anti-sniping setup. The auction would be extended by a certain amount of time for every bid placed in the closing moments. This was great for the sellers as it extended bidding wars but made it much harder to grab a bargain. Most of the listing were drop-shipped junk. I'm not sure how much the site was advertised but it's hard to compete with something as ubiquitous as eBay.
Put a fixed price and say "the item is advertised elsewhere and may be sold outside of eBay" inviting the buyer to contact you directly and arranging a transaction outside of eBay. You can still use postural if you want, but you can cancel your advertisement and save 10%. edit: postural is my phones version of PayPal :)
postage charge is an issue that local buyers don't have to contend with to this extent.
