Picked this up from a church fete earlier this year:-

I think it's a UO-8 or PE-8, late 70's road frame, converted to a 'fixed-wheeler'. Components:-
Rigida (France) CHROLUX ** 'Chromage Superiore' 27" x 1 1/4" HP rims; ATOM hubs w/ Huvet 'Luxe' wingnuts; MAFAC "Racer" brakes; SR 'Silstar' alloy crankset. The seat is interesting. See separate thread.

wow.

i have almost the same frame but in green, currently running fixed as well.
i think it is a PE-8. lynn has one which looks pretty much the same.

did you do the conversion job, or was it that way when your brought it?

Bought exactly as you see it, minus messy bar tape, gel seat cover, and chrome 'ringa-ringa' bell!! Couldn't find out any history about it. Think it may have been a 'deceased estate' or such-like. I'd say someone has converted their roadbike to track race many years ago, retired, then stuck a bell and seatcover on it later to got to church on Sundays on!

Simply be aware that many Peugeots were fully imported FDM's [French Domestic Models] with French diameter tubing & French threads, none of which is interchangeable with the English standard size or threading that was widely used here.
At least a locally sourced rear derailleur should bolt up OK [I think] along with the down tube friction shifters but check the seat tube for diameter as it could be a different diameter & if so, a locally sourced one would not clamp on.

Buying French sized & threaded components on eBay is not hard as it is quite common, [in Europe] but is a little inconvenient.

None the less, it will build into a very nice exotic road bike.

Yep, 28.1mm. Nothing a few layers of soft-drink-can can't fix! :wink:

Anyway, I think it may be staying a single-speed. Did sell a PE-8 last year with Simplex derailleurs, and it was then converted to a SS. Might be able to source back those parts if needed.

oh yes the french.
28 seat post size
double right handed threads on BB which are thin walled [ needing a 70mm shimano spindle marked "5" to replace the cottered spindle or the very nice phil woods replacement]
22mm stem - just purchased a 22mm 3ttt
22mm headset - [got that one covered]
25mm bars
nothing normal going on, but thats passion for you

Because the British Imperial system was just fine.
An inch was divided in two, then again & again into equal portions untill we got down to 64ths of an inch. Even as a schoolboy I had no problem with this but apparently Napolion decided that the French were too stupid to count past 10 because that's all the fingers they had, & naturally, the Australian government of the day presumed that we were as stupid as the French & inflicted metrication on us as well.

Talk about Government mandated dumbing down.

They took another French trait, homosexuality, & made it legal. What's next, will they make it compulsory?

All of my Peugeot UO-8's and UE-8's take a 25.6mm or 25.8mm seatpost(seatpin). Cheap and easy to find, about $25 for new alloy seatpost

Sorry mate, I didn't think it would be you that rose to the bait like a hungry trout.
Most know by now that I like to generate a little "robust debate" as our former & somewhat disgraced Prime Minister called it, so I throw out a little bait now & then to see what happens.
