Hi Guys

New to the forum so if this post is in the wrong spot or whatever happy to have it redirected.

I am looking to purchase my first road bike and am on a bit of a budget, looking at the Azzurri as mentioned in the title, its only an entry level bike which suits me fine as I try and get used to the road bike and its workings, has anyone had any experiences with this model or any other type of Azzurri? Looks like a good deal but note they only appear to have X large in stock. There have also been mixed reactions about the level of Cycling Express' customer service - viewtopic.php?f=9&t=41579" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi mate, cheers for the reply, x-large is exactly what I am chasing as I am 6'6, cheers for the link to the cycling express thread, I will have a bit of a look.

just a couple of things to note:
It has a triple crank
It has the old model shimano sora groupset. The new ones have the extra lever to shift down like the other groupsets.

Cheers mate, for the price though im thinking not a big deal? Double crank can be a bit on the lighter side but for a novice like my good self I may not even know the diff, same for the shifters as well,

Yes and no - it depends on the size of the chainrings too and what type of riding you are doing. I guess if you are happy to spend a little now and know that in 2 years you will want to get a proper road bike, then that might work out ok. The Sora tends to be very entry level - I have tiagra currently and while I am happy with it, I am glad I bought the upgrade as this bike has had to last me some years. I am only now upgrading after about 5 years on my Avanti.

Have a think - maybe if you can wait 2 months you might have the $ to go to Tiagra - it might save you in the long run.

Otherwise - welcome to the club - it's a fantastic journey!

My two cents... spend as little as you can on the first (preferably second hand) because if you love it you will be upgrading very soon. If you don't love it then you've lost less on the experiment.

In a market where you can get a full carbon, full ultegra roadie for $1700, then $800 for an alloy Tiagra build seems like a lot. That being said, I have an alloy frame Azzurri with 105 groupset ($800 from CE about 18 months ago) which I use for commuting and I cannot fault it for what I use it for.

12-30 Cassette I thought Shimano specced 28t max on the rear for road gruppo's (although as mentioned in other threads more teeth can be done, just didnt expect to see it done for retail sale)

Tiagra 4600 has a 12-30 cassette (which is the one on that bike). I think most shortcage shimano RD have a stated max of 28t but from what I have read many people have no problems using a 12-30 cassette. The normal tiagra 4600 RD is designed to be able to take a 12-30 cassette.

Any particular reason why you want to buy your bike online? Where abouts do you live? For your first road bike it is probably better to buy it in a bike shop.

No particular reason for wanting to buy online, the deal for that particular bike was what caught my interest and it happened to be online, I live in Bendigo in VIC, there are plenty of bike shops around that I could check out, I have been meaning to actually head out and have a good proper look around, I did read though however about the risks involved with buying your first bike online, more then likely going to give this Azzurri sport a miss for the time being, and just do a bit more study on some other bikes, like I said earlier in the thread, im new to road bikes so I want to try and gain as much knowledge as I can so I can make an informed decision, cheers for your help!

I am also looking for my next bike having been riding my Reid Condor Flat bar. My budget is $1000 so I was looking at the Helios 500 looks value for money getting 105 groupset and light as well. Not sure what your budget is.

Might be a little late to input, but my first roadie was this bike exactly from CE, only in the medium! The image on the website displays a three-ring chainring, which I did not realise at the time, but it is actually fitted with a compact FSA Tempo crank!

Subtle differences, as in the photo is says "Images are for illustration purposes only"

Excellent bikes and great service.

My first road bike was an Azzurri Uno Comp, which runs Tiagra, paid about $800 for it just over a year and a half ago.

That was an aluminium framed bike with a compact crankset, only sold it because I was upgrading to something lighter and a bit higher end spec wise.

I've just upped to another Azzurri, the Mezzo90, and love it. Great value and a bit different too.

Hi All. I have an Azzurri Uno road bike, and recently broke the rear hanger. My local bike shop tried to source a replacement, but with no success. Anyone have any ideas about finding one, or a compatible hanger from another bike?
